Looks like each can make whoever they want. They seem to be two lines running independently of each other.

I wonder if it's a race against time for SS now to put out characters before Hot Toys does. Let's be honest, folks would buy a $234 Darth Maul from Hot Toys before SS at the same price. It seems the two companies are going for characters the other hasn't, or at least ones not recently done in the case of HT.

I wonder how long HT has to wait to produce, for example, Darth Maul. SS's ANH Luke was how many years ago?

I wish they)Disney) let other companies share the Marvel and DC movie licenses. More competition, better quality.

Yeah, if it they were both releasing the same figures simultaneously HT would make all the money. We'll eventually get an HT Maul and it'll sell better than Sideshow's.

I might get the maul ... I know it's a bit pricey , but the only reason I really am questioning it right now is because how Jango came out and how people are saying the quality was bad . Granted I really want to try and win one .. But if it's that bad and maul is the same .. I think that's kinda messed up . But if it's a amazing figure I guess I wouldn't mind ... I really like the character from the books and clone wars , and I don't have the first figure they made . The head sculpt looks impressive . But then so did jangos to me in the promos ...

Agreed , and I'm glad ...

But sideshow might have the mask less Ren ... Or they might focus more clone wars , which I hope they do . I really want a Ashoka and Dooku . Savage and a better Ventress would be nice as well

Totally passing on that Maul. No accessories whatsoever. Not even worth it at a steep discount using coupon or rewards points.

I really like my SS Captain Rex, but heard some bad QC stuff regarding Jango. I'm kinda leery getting Maul and will probably wait a few years for HT to make one.

There is not financial gain for them to do it close. Remember both distribute for each other. Not to mention LFL is unlikely to allow it anyways.

I really like the Jango head sculpt in hand. It's on of the best SS has made, IMO. Maul may be overpriced, but I wouldn't worry about bad quality in the figure. It's still a year out, and SS does pretty well on fabrics too. The problem with Jango is with all of the armor pieces and such. Maul doesn't have those little pieces...

Phase II Captain Rex is absolutely amazing!!!!!



As for maul , the price point to accessory ratio is a wary thing indeed .

And yes hot toys might make one and it grab it as well.

But I do love my sideshow deluxe Vader, and seeing some people selling theirs to get hot toys makes me wince ... I can understand maybe on budget restraints .. But I'd rather have both personally ... Never mind how solid a figure he is , the shaw headsculpt alone makes him a keeper IMO ...

i wonder how much the people who handle all the intricacies of merchandise licensing get paid. It must be a huge PITA to go over all the detail and make sure your company gets the most bang for their buck.
