That's so unfortunate. Thanks for the pics Zod!! He looks incredibly disproportionate all around...his upper torso looks small, likely due to the fact that his head looks massive. And his clothes still leave something to greatly be desired. I'm surprised it's this far back on the quality scale with how long they've delayed it thus far...I never expected Hot Toys quality, but this is -- sadly enough -- not much higher than Kenner level.

Yes, it resembles one of Sideshow's early badly painted giant noggins.

This is pretty much what my thoughts were when I first saw these pictures. Looks like a Sideshow figure from 5-10 years ago. Definitely not up to current standards.

Glad I've got mine ordered through BBTS. They're always the last to get stuff in and there's no NRD. So once in-hand pics start showing up I can cancel if it really ends up looking like this.

Call me an optimist, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is just a really bad proto and that the real figure will end up looking more like the proto they showed originally.

I mean, seriously ... go back the the first post in this thread. That's a great looking figure. Everything is proportioned correctly! What happened?

Wow, this is shocking. It HAS to be the photos. The proportions are all way off. The proportions (that we can see) look fine on the coming soon pic.

Even all blurry, the one in the box looks a heck of a lot better than the one displayed. The proportions look way better. I don't think it's a question of lens distortion, that head is just enormous on the posed figure. But the one in the box looks right. That's why I'm thinking they have to be two totally different protos on that shelf.

I just hope we get the good one!

Not better than most of the customs I have seen. To be fair most custom are better than released figures but they end up costing 2-3x as much but these but I don't remember my Firefly figures costing this base price to build. I hope they fix any issues for their customers.

Um..... I think I'll take the version shown in the box please. The other looks more like a goofy, Mego-style 8 inch figure or something.

There's just no way in hell this could be the figure they actually plan to release??!?

Well... Looks like I could have been right. They must have gotten Sideshow's factory to do this work. What's with the head? Did they decide to change the sculpt to make him look more recognizable to those too young to remember this series? He looks more like puffy-faced Rick Castle, and not Mal Reynolds. And that paint job... Sheesh!

Everybody knows that the production piece always looks worse than the proto, even QMx, thus the delays. This ended up looking cheap. I know the clothes probably need futzed with, but the coat looks stiff and the cuffs are really bulky. Definitely seems like they did not use the same quality materials. The coat is a big part of the whole figure........and of course the head. I have no explanation for that.

Now that I've posted the pictures together, not sure I even want this anymore. I thought maybe I could get a repaint on the head, but so many other things look bad. The coat looks like a stiff piece of felt. The cuffs look like car seat vinyl. The buckles on the coat are bigger. The upper torso seems squashed. That's probably due to the way it is posed, unless they used a slightly shorter body for it. I know I said that the figure in the package looked better than the one on display, but how could you not take the time to make sure it looked good.....unless this is the best it looks?

I'm also at SDCC and I saw this in person and the head sculpt is just bad. It's not the pictures its just a bad head sculpt. I'm going to try to go back today and ask if this is an early proto type or something and if they are going to redo the sculpt. If this is what we are going to see in the production piece I am cancelling my pre-order and this line will probably due a quick death. Hopefully changes are actually being worked on.

Yeah kinda hard to believe we've waited THIS long for the figure, for it to come out looking like.... this.
