I'm going to enjoy passing all over this and the whole Hot Toys Star Wars project. To think of all the money I won't be spending....

So far the only thing I've seen that I really want is a tall Stormtrooper, and if I'm not getting anything else then I will probably pass on that; suddenly my custom Jedi Luke is the only 'HT' figure I need. That may change when I see in hand photos of this, but let's face it, they will do many, many versions of Vader, one of them is bound to be better.

I'd be terrified of the troopers becoming discoloured over time. While it might last longer than a Hasbro 3 3/4'' figure I couldn't stomach spending high-end amounts of money only for it still to eventually happen.

And yeah, the inevitability of 2.0s and 3.0s of every version of each character is itself a turn-off. I don't want to lock myself into yet another pattern of wanting update after update to fix the flaws of a previous release. One franchise is enough.

I've resisted getting into the Hot Toys game to this point. I was saying to myself that Vader would be my one and only purchase. But now, seeing the price point, I'm going to pass altogether. Just too much coin to re-buy figures I already have (I own the Sideshow version and it's good enough for me.)

Whoever thought this...

...would turn into this?

This is getting ridiculous! A $300 price tag so Hot Toys Hong Kong is getting richer and we're getting poorer with these astronomical prices. To get every single HT 1/6 Star Wars figure I so far have calculated $1400 and we don't have Obi, Luke, Leia and the droids yet.

Soooo is there not going to be a 2 pack with Ben? That's what I'm waiting on. Ordered from BBTS in case there isn't one and this sells out quickly. Seems odd they've released all the figures so far in 2 packs and now they've stopped, even though its another obvious 2 pack option. I'd hate for them to pull a Hulk and Banner set and only come up with a 2 pack with new extras after the Vader has been released solo.

I think I need to thank Hot Toys. I thought I was going to go broke and run out of display space when they announced the Star Wars line, but they have really made sure that's not going to happen with these subpar offerings at crazy prices.

While I'm not 100% thrilled with the stormies they look to be my only definite purchase.

...Look at the masterpiece that is their BD Robocop. That's attention to detail! What the hell happened here?
I'd agree with this. BD Robo is the perfect example of really getting it right in 1:6 scale. Can't wait to see that figure in-hand.

Vader... I think it's pretty much confirmed now that there is some sort of LFL revisionism going on. Lucas probably feels the ANH suit was shameful and left rules behind about what could be recreated and what not. I just can't believe HT would miss that many details that make the ANH look so unique. Height I suspect is HT's mistake but it wouldn't surprise me if LFL will simply not approve a rough Vader for production. Guess we'll wait and see how this comes out.

I don't think it'll happen. I suspect they figured if the set had a $580.00 MSRP, people would balk, whereas if they release them a little ways apart from one another, they squeeze a few more bucks out of collectors. They have some leverage in that ANH Vader and Ben won't be produced again probably for a decade+.

If there were to be a two-pack, it would've been announced same day. Say it did somehow happen, I'm sure SSC would be fine transferring the Vader NRD to the two-pack.

I was hoping that there would be a two pack. A throw back to one of my favorite sets!

This is kind of like bank rubber joker 2.0 without the luxury of the 1.0 will be on extra rewards, coupon eligible and free shipping at some point down the line.

I never thought of that! Yeah, yellow stormtroopers would kill me.

I'm sure SS bumped up the price a good 50$. (SS is kinda greedy) Plus a NRD **** off SS!
Oh, jeez, man. So now SSC is once again the 'bad guy' for being a distributor. It would be $300.00 if you bought it directly from HT at the dock. Get real!

There are fixes available to get rid of that decolourization (should it occur), so I'm not concerned.

I'll be curious to see if this is the case with an icon like Vader. I'd like to think SSC and HT learned their lesson with overproducing figures from this year's Spook, but we'll see.

If you add up Obi, Luke, leia and 2 droids to what they already have for pre-order it'll cost you over $3000 + shipping charges to get this entire line of HT 1/6 scale Star Wars. That's just killing us and this hobby.
