:rock :rock :rock

I couldn't tell who was moaning at first, the soldier jumping and seeing Godzilla for the first time, or the person filming it. :lol

It was the masterbat...eh, I mean the person filming it.

Is this really a Godzilla movie. :thud:

Dark and humorless didn't work for Superman, but it will work perfectly for this.

Thats because thats a superman movie and superman and dark dont go together. this is a Godzilla movie so smashing things and causing havoc are needed and some of the best Godzilla movies were like that.

I've watched this thing a couple of times now with the sound down. Just had to. That ********* practically ruins it. The trailer on the other hand is dark and ominous and makes you totally forget about that Roland Emmerich abomination. What's more, the tone here is straight up like an apocalyptic horror/scifi film harking back I might say to Ishiro Honda's 1954 classic that started it all. I think Gareth Edwards may have made the first true Godzilla sequel that respectfully replicates and engenders the same kind of dread and horror that the original has in abundance. Let's face it. Every Godzilla film since the 1954 one has been unable to truly duplicate the tone that Honda established with his masterpiece. Every film since has been lighter to much lighter or just downright camp. Hey, there is nothing wrong with that but I am so happy to see that somebody has apparently said, "**** it, I'm going to make a dark and dangerous Godzilla film that is serious." We'll see next year if its any good.

The soundtrack reminds me of 2001

But yeah, about time someone got it right (hopefully).

Apocalyptic is a good word to describe this.

Thats what people have been waiting for. Godzilla 89 was close but not quite there and this one just feels so right and a TRUE remake of the 54 classic.
Dont be hard on the loud breather guy. Im sure once we see this on film and the more footage released we will be just like that

The soundtrack has a piece of music that was used in 2001. I believe its Lygeti's Lux Aeterna? Maybe. Could be wrong. That piece is used when the astronauts on the moon see the Monolith for the first time and when Dave Bowman begins his trip into hyperspace after encountering the big Monolith near Jupiter at the end of the film. Great piece of foreboding music.

Another word to describe the tone of the trailer and hopefully the overall film is GRIM. I don't think there's been a grim kaiju film since Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris. That film was grim and nasty too.

I like Grim, so I guess from pics BC cooks meth, Godzilla gets addicted, no hope for humans cause Godzilla destroys cities looking for meth and then hope appears as BC cooks a big batch and Godzilla ODs. Yep grim... very nasty and grim.

'84 came close but for me the Super X keeps it tied to the campy Showa era, if that were replaced with tanks and planes, it might have done it. Also lose the laser trucks.
