If you look closely at the Slick you see a bunch of different numbers and codes, one of which calls out the Jacket as 405U.

These codes correspond to a Pantone Color. Pantone is used in the Graphics Art industry as universal color system. Consulting a Pantone Color Chart one comes up with:

BROWN!

Had to pull this out from art class many moons ago....my Pantone Color poster says 405U is Warm Gray. :panic::lol

BROWN! Kenner may have read the slick wrong, gotten too far into figure production and LucasFilm not really being the control freaks they are today let them slide on the error. Perhaps there was a screw up at the factory and the switch was made then. Perhaps the Brown didn't look right and they wanted Han to stand out. Any of these could have happened.

That doesn't even look like the correct shade of Brown! :lol

That pantone color matches the same shade of brown used on the 1996 Kenner Power of the Force Han Hoth so that ad slick was obviously used from the 1990's unless you can provide proof of date that it was supposed to be used for the 1980 Kenner figure which I HIGHLY doubt. The rifle in that ad slick is the dead giveaway.

Give me a moment, and I'll find what I can.

Here we go, here is another one of those lucasfilm toy slides.

That was not reissued in 1996. Just food for thought. Here is the link to the articile where the owner talks a little about them.

And while there are SOME similarities with teh rifle han is holding in the slide to the one hasbro released, I there are several differences as well. The toy has a stock, and NO forward grip, the slide has both. also, the details on the side of the rifle differ. i think it's more likely the slide was RESUBMITTED to hasbro from lucasfilm, but I'm fairly convinced it's a legitimate kenner one.

Han never used the rifle in the movie. That was one of those made-up-by-Kenner accessories when they did the 1996 POTF line. Definitely not for the 1980 figure.

as for the color chart confusion, my advice would be to go look at one in person at a paint store? Don't know. REgardless, screen used coat is clearly brown, so i think that pretty much settles it.

That said, I'd not be opposed to a blue coat being included for alternate display options ! :D

THere is a LOT of weird 80's era artwork that showcases a great deal of things that was never used in the films. REGARDLESS, those slides WERE MADE BY LUCASFILM and given to the toy company. COnsidering they are drawings and not photogrpahs, I'd say they're more likely from the 80's as well.

You're getting TWO damn coats anyway!!!! :slap :gah:

:lol

Are we? or are you commenting on my preference of not having a preference?

Facts are facts, the coat's brown.

I don't care what they toy sideshow is making is coming with, so long as it looks like Han in hoth gear when it's on my shelf. The proto i saw in the SDCC pictures looks great, So I'm happy.
