im tempted by this deal, but i told myself im sitting out the hddvd/bluray war and waiting until i own a tv that would benefit from the better dvds. my 60 inch 1984 projection tv will look the same either way. but at least i have wood paneling!!!!!!!!!!

Um, an HDMI cable will allow you to get the full potential out of your new dvd player. It is not necessary but if you want to see HD in all it's glory I would get one. That is the one thing that held back the xbox player- no HDMI support. Of course the component cables will work fine too though.
