I don't understand HT's sudden fascination with diecast, between the price this will bring and the limited movement of the figure, I can't see how this could possibly sell as well as your normal plastic figure
Diecast belongs on cars IMO

also does this mean HT is going to have 3 sperate IM3 lines?
Plastic, Diecast, and Power Pose?

You forgot the possibilities of HT giving us IM in 1/4 scale. And there is also the 1/4 Bust line...

Because another company did it. They can't allow themselves to appear inferior.

Pretty bummed to see this listed as an MMS. I was hoping the diecast releases would be a totally separate thing. But with this having an MMS number, I really don't see them doing an MMS plastic version for the foreseeable future. That is a real shame as I was really looking forward to buying Patriot.

If they are indeed just going to do diecast releases instead of plastic from the IM franchise from now on... That will be it for me on completing my Marvel cinematic stuff. :( Prices are high enough with just plastic. There is no way I can afford diecast versions of the 42, Patriot, War Machine, MK III, Iron Whiplash, etc, etc, etc.

And I am a completest by nature. If I am going to be missing a bunch of armors from IM3 in my collection, I will have a hard time rationalizing picking up other stuff that I may be only fairly interested in (like the ASM Spidey) just to stay "complete". Maybe my collection will just cover MCU Phase 1.

I wonder if HT even realizes that they may be shooting themselves in the foot by doing this?

So a Japanese import site I frequent, has this guy list at 28600 yen which comes out to roughly $300 US. Their prices are typically $15-20 cheaper than what SSC offers. So it looks like this guy will be closer to $300 than $400.

saw a early listing on this for $389 before shipping on Ebay:rotfl

if they don't make NORMAL plastic Iron Patriot, I'm going to be more than disapointed:mad: I've looked forward to this figure more than anything else this year

I wonder what the percentage of diecast to plastic this will be? Is it possible that only the outer armor is diecast over the standard plastic bodies underneath?

Looks like the 42 is diecast as well. :( That kinda puts the nail in the coffin for me.

At $ 300 it's not to bad not considering its Diecast, but I guess that price should be expected considering that the play imaginative is priced at 395.00 SGD = 316.119 USD and they include the a hall of armor but no actor likeness to worry about.

If we can get this less the $ 300 it might not be so bad, but I am surprised at the lack of accessories that the Iron Patriot comes is the Mark 42 the only armor to gets serious battle damage?

I know there alot of concerns of the paint chipping with frequent posing, but how badly will the chipping be if the pose rarely gets changed once it's in a suitable one? Does anyone have an estimate? (I realise that real facts are impossible to get since this is only in prototype phase.. I just really want a Hot Toys M42 and Iron Patriot and it seems like they may not make a plastic version of these..)

So since the diecast will chip from reposing, maybe they should have made standard MMS plastic figures, and diecast PPS figures?

These will probably be a little heavier, right? I remember when I got my first plastic figure I thought it would've had a little more weight to it.

i am really torn on what to do, i got the mms 191 on pre order and cant wait but i also want a few armours from this movie, dont know if i should get this die cast version or wait and see if they do plastic versions, but then if they don't do plastic i may miss out

I hope for our sake as well as theirs that any area which involves friction and moving parts will be indeed made of plastic and if not you are just inviting the figure to scratch and chip.

I think you have time. This PO will be up for quite some time.

I'm glad there was no teaser for this figure. I'm quite tired of teasers for POs (we know what it looks like from the movie, duh) and teasers for it being released (we know what it looks like from the movie, duh) and teasers for OMG (and others) photos (we know what it looks like from the movie, duh).:lol

I'm just saying...

This will be the only Iron Man 3 figure that I buy (Maybe Hulkbuster). It looks amazing. Can't wait for this guy to become a preorder. I do agree that it should come with more but I guess the cost to make it die cast is why there are no more accessories or weapons.
