Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

It's still unclear. Could already exist, or they could've been created. It's been speculation for years.

It's like this.

But it ain't the same.

WTF is that again?

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

I've always thought of Aliens as a rouge element in any equation (situation), their origin doesn't matter all we know is hell will break lose and it seems they are impossible to kill permanently.

Maybe they are an unexpected byproduct of what The Engineers were trying to achieve. I'd like to think they were a mistake that cost The Engineers their existence. e.g Jesus being nailed to the cross by his fathers own creation.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

A facehugger is a facehugger.

Do you call a caterpillar a Butterfly?

And the name is just something Gorman called it in Aliens. Whether it's what Cameron officially named the creature, well, that's his thing. But it was said in the movie, and the only semi official name for it, other then "alien".

Calling it an Alien works too...but for discussions and stuff, I call it a Xeno so no one gets confuzzeled. :D

Yeah, but Gorman would have been quoting the term from a military manual, and that manual would have been written long before them heading to LV-426. Xenomorph is just a general term for an alien of any description.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Xenomorph is a definition for a creature of unknown shape or of unknown origin

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Well, it's not. It's the semi official term for the Alien creature. It was used to describe it in Alien 3, and Alien Res. All the games, all the comics, everything.

So. Yeah.

It's not specifically for Aliens :rotfl It's a biological term? And I mean real life Earth biology. It's a definition for an unknown undocumented new and peculiar species that hasn't been documented. Rather then dub it a new species scientists call it an Xenomorph. A common use of the term is for creatures at the deepest of the deepest oceans in the darkness, the real odd looking fish. (Trust me i'm a bio student)

So. Yeah.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

I'm not criticizing the movie because of janky science. Part of the charm, I suppose.

Yeah, you really just have to let a move be what it is sometimes. I don't see the point of overanalyzing fantasy.

:goodpost:

Spot on, analysis is good for the science element :) But people forget it is Science-Fiction

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Xeno = stranger/foreigner

Morph = change from one thing to another

Xenomorph was used to describe the SPECIFIC creature Ripley described in her report.

I don't give a ____. :lol

Xenomorph means The Alien from the Alien series. No matter how you slice it. It's what it's called. :lol

Just deal with it.

I agree, the aliens in the movies are Xenomopths. But only for the reasons I stated :wink1:

I'm guessing they we're deemed it in the movie universe for similar logical science :lecture
