Whether or not it's a good idea, I'm curious how the "Splicence" came about. The movie's a couple years old, it had a low-ish budget, and it didn't do any business at the box office.
I bet it has something to do with the movie's Executive Producer and noted collector ... Guillermo del Toro. Maybe it's a personal favor? Or maybe it's the beginning of a relationship between Sideshow and one of Hollywood's most high-profile geek directors? I'd be curious to hear the behind-the-scenes scoop.
Personally I thought the movie was okay. Hey, they took a risk and didn't stick the landing. But I can't fault them for that. I'd much prefer more movies take a few more risks that than take the safe, boring, predictable route.
