Put it this way, if people are not happy with the paint job, it can get repainted. If people are scares that it's gonna come damaged, order one from Sideshow with a better and promising customer service.

Have no fear and know in the end everything can be alright.

I bought mine and got the face repainted and it looks way better.

Fantastic review Tyler, and awesome pics. I'm sorry to hear about the paint issues. I have to agree with you that that was one of the reasons I ordered this bust. When I spoke with Fred, he really stressed the paint apps, and how they were going to be miles ahead of anything coming out of China. He did mention that you would find imperfections if you looked hard enough, and maybe everyone has a different opinion of what that is. To me, if you can see something from 5 feet away, it is more than a slight imperfection. But from the pics you posted, the thing looks unreal.

I hope Fred answers your email. It's unfortunate that some people are not getting the service that we expect.

As for the part above the shoulder, Howard S Studios mentioned that he spoke with Fred and Fred had told him that it was supposed to be matte. While I believe Fred, I'd be very interested in seeing screenshots from the movie showing that.

Jedster, regarding simply having it repainted, you are right that this is definitely an option, but it's an added expense to what we believed would be unnecessary.

Although the visor issue is something I better understand and can live with, the fact remains the paint app is horrible. Their are pieces of debris stuck in the paint and then painted over with clear. The entire bust is covered with them in addition to the air bubbles seen everywhere which I posted pictures of on SF.

The left breast plate has a concave section right in the middle which is surrounded by a wavy surface. Its only seen on the left side, the right side is perfect. It almost reminds me of SS's 1:1 Ironman bust surface texture.

Despite the weight of the bust not being an issue for some, I do see a problem with it. I was expecting this to be light, but holly gezz it doesnt even break the double digit mark on a scale. Im sorry but everything about this bust just screams cheap to me. At $850 this sort of quality is unacceptable. Frustrating me further on this is Freds silence. I emailed him the same day I received the bust on the issues mentioned above...5 days later and still no response. What is that??

The individuals willing to "accept" the paint flaws and super light weight thin cast on this bust at $850, I can only shake my head at. As it basically sends a message to Fred saying what he's put out is acceptable. Normally, I would agree with most of you.....IF this was priced at $250-$350. But Fred is charging a premium for a bust that "to me" feels and looks like a pinata.

As for the "have it repainted" argument...sorry again, but this just doesnt fly with me. I have access to a private painter, but theirs no reason I should have to commision him to repaint this at $850 when it was promoted by Fred to sport a jaw dropping paint job (thus the reason for the delay in addition to the missing bolts....which are still missing). Thats why I agreed to hand over $850 in the first place. Paying to have it repainted would defeat the purpose.

No one should "have to" or be forced to accept these sort of issues on the premis that the bust "looks cool" from 10 feet away. That to me is a complete cop out. Weather you're happy with the bust you received or not, we deserve more for the price of admission.

You know I have tons of 1080p screen caps. :D And yes, it's all there. In LOTs of the scenes, not just parts above the shoulders are matte looking.

hey guys, thanks for the compliments and you're all quite welcome. :1-1:

one thing i must say is this: the robocop bust is a very photogenic collectible. in fact, i'd say it's one of those pieces that actually looks better on camera than in real life.

reinhardt, jack burton: okay, if the top of the chestplate area is supposed to come with a matte finish, then it doesn't sound so bad. the thing is, i've studied the onscreen look of robo's armour and it's quite obvious in many scenes that even the top of his chestplates are glossy.

as for willing to accept the flaws for such a huge price, i would say for me it's because i got a piece with relatively minor issues (no warping, no breakage, fewer paint defects). so i'm not as bummed about it. i can understand the feelings of those who got a lemon. but it's a little unnecessary to call us out for being happy or forgiving with what we got. to me, the bust is a very impressive piece. period. and it certainly does not look cheap in any way. when my parents visited my home and saw it, the first thing they said was that i must've spent a lot of money on it. i'm not being an apologist on fred's behalf. the issues i have with it have been stated clearly and honestly. but at the end of the day, i just like it. even my gf loves it. which says a LOT. :D

That is incorrect. :slap
The Robocop full scale bust have its roots from a bigger project.
You can read all about it here.
https://www.robocoparchive.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=1316&start=0

It's been resculpted with a variety of parts.
To say one source is false, and to say that it is untouched is false.
It's been redone, a full workover.
Some new parts are done from scratch because they didn't look very good in person.
The original parts are ROUGH in person.
Collectors would have been PISSED if they had have gotten an actual 'production-quality' bust.
Warped, unsymmetrical, etc.
