Well, I did it. Re-painted/touched up my BD head. I was amazed how easily the head took the paint, I just did subtle washes. I didn't enhance the bruises too much but added more texture around the eyes and mouth. Very very happy with it!
It's unbelievably better now, thanks Axe for the inspiration.
You can actually see the proto in it now.

Hey Rorywan !

Can you take "before" and "after" shots ? Also I would like to know more about the big vs. small pupils you mentioned - do you mean both head sculpts (smiling and DB head - or just one of them ?)

Btw, I am happy for you that everything is all good with your 2nd. set !

Arrovve: Great pictures !!!!

Cool man can't wait to see your pics :) I would love to use them as a guide on how to improve the figure, I'm sure it looks great.

Hey Gung,
I will post some pics tomorrow. I can show both heads, as I didn't touch my original one. The pupils I was refering to are on the BD head. The newer head I got is definitely better.

wow one of the best shots i have seen personally....:goodpost:
is this the normal version or beijing version?

I would guess from the head it's the normal version, might be wrong. Eyes look better IMO. I also noticed the paint seems heavier on the sculpt, which it is on my normal version.
Obviously I have only seen two heads, so I have no idea if ALL the heads have these differences or if they variance is just between the expo and the regular.

Axe, damn you! you are making me want to paint my extra head.
I am an artist (well, I went to art college!), but I haven't painted models in years. What kind of paints did you use, acrylic?
Great work my man!

Also a couple of things I noticed when finally opening my regular version yesterday.. has anyone noticed their are two different pupil sizes in the eyes? My Beijing version has larger pupils than my regular version. The smaller pupils make it look a lot closer to the proto. It doesn't have that weird wide eyed look anymore. Looks a lot better IMO. My body was perfect, no marks on the arms or chest. No staining. One very minor paint rub on the nose, thats it. I'd swear the eye sockets are smaller, but thats probably my imagination.

Thank You Rory for your kind comments, but Im no artist, this is my first 1:6th repaint... I used to sketch a lot when I was in high school but music became more important to me later... and currently applying for a MS in Engineering in the US :wink1:
I used standard artist acrylic, however the deal here is I realised that using straight up acrylic wont help as the paint work here has to be subtle so I went with VERY dilute paintwork... literally painted by dropping a blob of dilute paint... let it stay for a couple of minutes... ten dab it off... almost like I see girls putting foundation makeup. It helps by merging Enterbay's orginal paint but also highlighting and sharpening the details you want to emphasize on... the difficulty here isnt in the painting, rather matching the paint on the figure itself... you have to mix the paints well for the right shade and guess how much darker/lighter it should be to compensate for the dilution

Congrats on your second set :clap and its great your body is stain free, but looks like you have the same noserub issue as me, it turned out to be the whole reason I caught the repainting bug, read some basic tutorial from Figurerealm and bought some paints and then.... here's a pic of my BD before I did all my mods and repaints, the paint lacked character dampening the sculpt and the paintrub is very visible here

And here is of what it looks like now...

I have learnt in a hands on way what people mean when they say that paint apps can make or break a sculpt...

normal.
what are the differencences ?

If larrys pictures hold true for all cases the biggest difference is the amount of damage on the BD suit... the HK version/normal's BD on the suit is SO LIGHT that it looks non existent almost... This pic's BD suit is like my HK version before I repainted it...

Also Rory as much as I think things like paint MIGHT differ slightly between HK and Expo versions, I dont think Sculpt will considering they came of the same moulds, so the eyeslits being smaller maybe more of an optical illusion...

Okay... I am fully aware of me not even being anywhere close to be a "good" photographer - especially since this figure picture taking thing is totally new to me, plus I do not have the right photo equipment, plus of course total lack of experience... But I have tried my best to get an "acceptable" photo of this really beautiful Bruce Lee figure with my digital camera... And of course non of the photos I took did any real justice to come anywhere close to what the full and right impression of how beautiful this wonderful figure really is in-hand... So please accept my most humble apology for this rather clumsy attempt I manage to squeese out...

So.... Anyhow here is one best shot I manage to "produce" so far:

IMG_0723CROPPEDbSMALLER.jpg

I call it the "It is like a finger pointing away to the moon" "Game of Death" impression...

Btw, I had to rotate the pointing had in photoshop because it wasn't pointing up as much as I wanted to.... I have so much to learn and I have a long way to go - so I have to start somewhere - right ?..

No Axe, neither do I. But something looks different. Maybe it's the paint job, maybe its the smaller pupils in the eyes?

Don't know.
