What prototype did you see because the one I saw looked like ass.

From what I can tell in that pic, and it ain't much, he doesn't look too bad actually. Though it does look more like the comic version than the show. Which might actually be the case.

Yeah thats the one Nam, yeah like I said for a 7" figure he looks pretty decent. Ive flipped thru the comic a few times, but never really payed all that much attention so I wouldnt know. I however did watch the show and loved it. So overall though like I said I think he looks decent.

In other pics, he has this 'not impressed' look on his face, not gaunt or surprised like the comic. I doubt Kirkman would approve it in it's current state. If this sculpt were a home run from the outset, I'd be so stoked right now. Right now, it can be so much better. But they probably won't do ____ about it.

Google 'Walking Dead Rick Grimes' for done scans from the comic, you'll find the McFarlane sculpt is a rushed effort, with little resemblance to the character.

Tony Moore was the artist on TWD from issues 1-6. Here is his take on Rick:

This last pic may be the best example of what's bugging me: his eyes are too full, as in the irises are almost black, like 30 Days Of Night black, a little tweaking here might solve it. Moore's Rick, which this figure is based on, had a long, lean face, with little stubble, small, squinted eyes, and a square jaw. The McFarlane figure has the hair and sideburns right, that is all. I just want better, professional shots, or a complete redo altogether...you have to admit it doesn't have a staggering likeness immediately.

No, I agree, but this isn't a Hot Toys figure either. I don't need 100% accuracy on a $10 toy.

I know. It's just I've been reading the comics for years, and Rick's a Grail of mine...someone gets the licence, geekgasm, then BAM!

The likeness on Michonne is great, yet Rick falls short, especially when there's so much reference there...it's disappointing...I guess I'm just spoiled by Hot Toys' stellar sculpts for so long.

Movie toys man. No one was making detailed movie toys before McF.

1:6 would still be heavy in the military stuff. Or maybe not. Who knows.

But regardless with Hot Toys, Sideshow wouldnt have existed without McF. Since they started with 6 inch stuff.

I disagree. While I don't think they believe McFarlane is detrimental to a license, I do think they toy with the idea of a license and in roundtable discussions ask, "Well, has anybody pecked at the license yet?" Then it's a "wait and see" sorta thing to judge how well demand is for a given license. And while McFarlane hasn't done anything to "wow" anybody in a decade, they should get creds for at least leading the pack and having the cajones to at least pick up the license and start the ball rolling. Don't think for a minute that if this ____ sells like gangbusters, the high-end won't jump on it like a virgin with gropey hands on a drunk and passed out hottie with big tits.

Therein lies the question.

I'd love for these to take off so other companies can follow suit. However, with McFailing behind the wheel I have zero faith it will increase the chances of us seeing "high end" companies bite on this license. Hopefully someone will pick up the license despite of McFailing's attempt. I wouldn't pay $5 for a Rick Grimes that doesn't even closely resemble Rick Grimes. Seriously, without the hat & bag of guns I wouldn't know who that is supposed to be.

I know its been said but YES. Its probably one of the best Zombie ( I would say movie but its not a movie) things ive seen. Top notch acting, story, and quality. Basically its like a really long completely awesome zombie movie that you never want to end

You do realize this isn't the show version, right?
