I'm not completely finished with him yet, still have some tweaking, painting and details to finish. This was my first attempt at any custom 1/6th figure, I'm not very experienced with this.

It's a basic Dragon body and hands, Hasbro robe and Gaffi stick (and I modified the respirator), and I made everything else and sculpted the "face".

Next up is his Bantha!!! (yeah, I'm serious).

Very nice job. I really hope Sideshow delivers on this character in the next year or so.

You might consider weathering him a bit. He looks a bit clean for a desert dwelling nomad.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I haven't finished the paint/color, really, yet. I need to pick up some pastels or something to really grime him up a bit.

Looks great, just warp the arms up to the elbows so no skin isnt exposed.

Looking good, you may want to thin down the head wrappings so they arent so wide, and maybe source a 1/6 thompson submachine gun ammo pouch for his midrift, maybe 'outer' robe too, but depends on your prefs and which version 'if any' your doing

Looks great so far! This is on my list also, but the head is kicking my arse!:D I agree, some waist ammo pouches and you will be there.

looks great. i would agree with the wrapping of the arms to hide the "skin" & your idea of using pastels to weather is spot on.

I missed your comment that the Bantha being next. I finished furring a Tauntaun late last year and was also kicking around doing a Bantha. What are you thinking of using as the body or are you planning on starting from scratch?

Yeah, I'm building the Bantha from scratch. A wire and wood armature (so it has some movement) and I will sculpt the face/mouth and horns. The body will be shaped with foam and covered in synthetic fur.

I'm making the armature now, just trying out a few different things, seeing what works best. Hopefully that'll be done in the next few days, then I can start on the head, horns, etc.

Chakaman, the eyes are actually the ends of the some pens that I carved up. This was a fairly quick project and I tried to do it with no casting involved just to see what I could accomplish. I was planning on making another Tusken Raider, so I'd likely make it a bit more refined next go.

That sounds great. You should think about starting a thread showing the progress of the Bantha project. I'm sure everyone would be interested since I think it maybe the first one made at 1/6 scale.

I planned on doing a Bantha about 10 years ago, I still got the 14" tall woolly mammoth I intended to use as a base body crammed in closet somewhere. But it got shoved to the back burner and forgotten about, I think it was due to having trouble finding the right fur at the time.

Sean this is amazing... I think a Tusken is on everybodies todo list as is a Bantha. (that will be so cool.)

I love yours and think you have done an amazing job. When you do the next one can you take shots as you go.
I would love to see the step by step process..

:)

Looks good, but it's way out of scale. If you could apply similar techniques to something the size of a 1/6 elephant, you'd be golden. I've thought of this as well and I've yet to come up with anything to use as a base. Building it from scratch is out of my league, so credit to Owen. I'd just like to see it about 25% smaller.
