No thread derail is ever pointless. That is what happens when you create a community of people who like the same things. Friendships will build, you will get to know other people and like all friendships get off topic and go on wild tangents when you are discussing one thing and it leads to another. Sometimes it gets a little crazy bit other times I think it just shows how great online forums can be. More often than not the thread will naturally go back on topic.

I agree with Something Sexy here, and that has to be a first! People will bring the topic back, but it's nice to see friendship build in threads like this, especially when people are having good fun, and nobody is being seriously mean to anyone.

I don't see any harm or foul here DD, but I also understand your stance on the situation.

Yes, but the difference between Buffy/Angel and the Twilight saga is the fact Whedon is an amazing writer/director and got actors who can act.

C'mon, the Twilight books sold like a kagillion copies and no one could deny that the characters totally resonate with a particular age demographic. I have to applaud the Twilight group for their success even if I (or you) didn't contribute to that success in any way.

I'm not saying one is better than the other. However, I can't say that Kristin Stewart can't act. I've sen her in other films and she was a breath of fresh air. When all is said and done, she'll likely have had a better career than SMG who, sadly and undeservingly, has been in career limbo since leaving Buffy.

My sense is that Megan Fox is a proverbial onscreen "babe". Her looks is pretty much the job. SMG will certainly be remembered for doing much more for longer too. Sadly, Hollywood doesn't seem motivated to give SMG more memorable movie roles. I actually think the Grudge films and the Scooby Doo films were a step back for her. She didn't particularly do her career any great favors there. Kristin Bell seems to be getting the roles SMG could be doing.

However, Kristin Stewart strikes me as an actress who is destined for good things. While I can't say much for the backstreet boys in Twilight, I get the sense she's got the right stuff. JMHO
