Which would you prefer, chrome plated battle helmet and mask for Cobra Commander and Destro or silver painted?

Personally I would go with chrome on both of them to capture the mirrored look but there's also the argument that it may make them look a bit too toyish.

What say you?

I would say whichever looks best. I've seen chromed items that look nice and painted chrome that looks nice. That said, I've also seen chromed items that crack and chip (Sideshow's Endos are notorious for this) and I've seen painted items that either flake or never dry. So not really sure which route to go.

I know what you mean. My first thought was to instinctively go with chrome but the more I thought about it the more difficult the decision became which is why I started this poll. Depending on how either of these looks would impact other figures like the Vipers. I just don't want this to turn into another Ark fiasco.

Yeah, if it were to look like Dollar Store chrome, I would pass, though I wouldn't expect that it would coming from Sideshow. Maybe the lack of appropriate chroming technology is part of why we got hooded CC first.

Painted the same way they've done Storm Shadow's swords and the Trooper/Officer knives. I DON'T trust SSC to do a chrome vac metalized piece(s) especially with all the flaking issues of late. :pow

Yeah, exactly. I can see it turning out either way and unfortunately, going off of previous products, it's like sitting down, tossing a slug into the wheel, giving it a spin, doming it and pulling the trigger. The Ark was a no-brainer as they already had Hasbro's model to trump. I caved and picked up Destro from Hasbro because I honestly don't have very much faith in what we'll get and Hasbro's ROC was surprisingly workable.

Be mindful of it too though. For some reason, that paint never dries. Most of us who've owned Star Wars figures can attest to that with the paint on the stands. :(

I would love to both have metallic masks but I share the same concern as Mando. I don't know if Sideshow would be able to do it correctly.

I still have the 12" Hall of Fame Destro figure from 1993 and he has a metallic mask but is not flaking so it can be done.

Good point about the silver paint not drying. Man this is like damned if you do damned if you don't.

Just like the majority I want chrome but I'm picturing perfect sculpts with the vacuum metalized chrome applied flawlessly... If given the choice between a potential Sideshow disaster and painted heads I'll go with painted.

On a pro-painted note, the sculpt details on Destro would better stand out if they went that route with him.

Maybe they should offer one of them as the exclusive accessory. That way the people that want it will get it. Now the question is which one is regular and which one is exclusive?

I wouldn't mind the option of displaying both as long as CC's helmet has the removeable explosives panel.
