Cornelius is coming along swell!! I think I am almost done...but first I have to walk away and see how I feel about him tomorrow. His hair has combed out wonderfully--I styled it with the part, as Sideshow had done...but with my own take. I still can't get the eyes evened out, but where there's a will, I'll find a way. And I think his nose could get a little wider around the nostrils, no?

Cool shots, Ironman. My favorite is #4. How does your Hunt Leader look on the Hot Toys body? I wish Hot Toys didn't put a lining on their gorilla vests so I can see how they put it together. I think I know, though....they must have sewn a pleat, and then forced it down, and then top stitched. When I first got the Hot Toy gorilla I thought that it was molded plastic with top stitching, but I was wrong.

My hunt leader is permanently attached to his body. I have a second one out with a painter. Whenever it gets back to me I'll give it a go and see how it looks. I was surprised, the open mouth Urko looked a bit small on the HT while the other open mouth seemed to fit in well. Even the hasbro didn't look that bad. Now if I could just get the Attar sculpt, cut down and reshaped I think he'd look good among the rest.

Ironman, you should take clear shots of the Planet of the Apes gorillas produced through time starting with Mego and ending with Hot Toys!!

I can't wait to see the Hunt Leader on the Hot Toys body and costume. It's too bad that the gorilla outfit from Hot Toys does not have snaps so you can take them on/off...you have to pop off the heads and hands to remove the clothing. Not very romantic, is it?

Thanks, Wook, regarding Cornelius. Not sure how I will paint his eyes. I'll have to play with it and see which looks better. I think looking straight on would still be ok. Or I could cast him and then have two of them, each one looking in different directions. I'm still trying to capture his wry smile...it's tough but I think I can do it. That will make him look so friendly compared to the pissed off Sideshow Cornelius, huh?

Clear shots? What are you saying, Jess? LOL!
I'll have to go thru my boxes of Megos. They don't get all that much attention, not being 1:6 and all. It would have been interesting to see what Mego would have provided had they done POTA in 12" like Trek, Bond and the Black Hole.
I still hope Dr. Shrinker shows up again and some of those 8'ers can gat resized!

I'm just swapping heads. I don't plan on declothing any HTs unless necessary.

I'm telling you to find that gosh darn macro button on your camera, Ironman! :lol

I see Ian on another board on occasion. He hasn't put that much effort on the enlarging...I think the difficulty in the process is that it's hit and miss....and he keeps missing (the casts keep cracking on him).

And, why, when Cornelius and Zira are being asked about the ship and Colonel Taylor, don't they ask about the second ship they sent and Brent?

Yeah I've wondered about that too.

Also, watching Escape I thought... would the government really send upright walking space chimps to the Zoo. Really? What Area 51 all booked up?

Why does Stevie faint when Zira finally speaks? Really. She is supposed to be a scientist. And as a scientist, she has already observed or noted that the Apes have somehow dressed themselves in ANSA spacesuits then upon arrival, changed into their own clothing... each with matching glyphs which would imply some kind of social structure. And in any society there must be some form of communication or language. It's not like it was with Taylor... he was dressed like any other human. Now, if Taylor and Co. walked right off their ship, like these three chimps do, would the Apes really be surprised that they spoke?

Overall I think that Escape tried to mirror the first film too much. The chimps had to spend time behind bars (i.e. Zoo) like Taylor did... and there had to be a reaction to the chimps finally speaking... albeit it painfully underdramatic and just a wee bit silly.

Well, the monkey boys arrived today(exactly 3 weeks late,as predicted)and I can only think of one word to adequately describe them...OUTSTANDING!!! As good as the pix are, the actual figures are SO much better. An order of magnitude(or 2) above the SST's. The colors and details are exact(costume standard here, gang) and the sculpts are precise and sharp.Yes, the fur is a little poofy, but not nearly as bad as I feared, and my wife(a prodigiously talented customizer) informs me that this is fixable if I wish. To those who have suggested swapping HT uniforms onto SST figures, I have only one observation..you are out of your flippin' minds.Pix soon...PS
