I just filed charge disputes with my Credit Union. I doubt anything will come of it, but at least I can say I did something besides feel depressed.

Recounted my losses and they are actually 1566.62 GBP which translates to about $1993 USD. Not as bad as $3400. I guess I feel a little better.

Best case scenario: I might get $80 refunded.

Grim reading indeed. It's terrible some of the amounts that people have lost because of this.

The only other time i've been done was many moons ago... It happened to be Dr who as well. I forget the companies name, but it was back in the 90's. A time when Dr who merch was very little.

It was a beautiful 12inch model Tardis with flashing lights, and was advertised in Dr who monthly.

I remember i paid the deposit, only to be notified by letter a few months later that the company had gone bust.

Is there anyone else here old enough to remember it?

If it is the same as the one I am thinking of, it was the Yardley-Jones model and only a few made it out of the factory. I remember some YouTuber (can't remember who) was over the moon because they found one.

I once lost money when a convention was cancelled two days before it was supposed to happen. Some of the actors already were in the plane on their way to Germany by that time. I hear they held their own little convention with the fans that made it.

I would argue EXO-6 is a different beast, created solely to produce a definitive Star Trek 1/6 series. Plus QMx had a great start with Nanjin attached. I don't see this happening with big chief.

I don't follow. I wasn't suggesting EXO-6 would pick up the line, merely injecting some hope for the completists that another company might. People have lost a lot of money, so was trying to offer some future optimism. They feel, and rightly so, sick about the loss. It's a horrible situation. Hope they can all get their money back.

I really hope we all get something back, as unlikely as that feels now. I also wasn't suggesting EXO-6 might pick up Dr Who, just that it is a unique example of a guy who was apart of the original QMx line left to start his own company to just make 1/6 Trek. Of course some other company could, and hopefully will, pick up the license, but it won't be like EXO-6 in that one man with a huge love for the IP takes a personal stake in starting a company. I'd love for some aspiring entrepreneur to rise up and take the lead, not expecting it though.

Plus, respectfully, QMx had produced less but their products were better realized that BCS. IMO. I think Dr Who needs a fresh start from the ground up.

I agree with most of what you're saying, but with the figures already released, any new company would want distance, which is why I compared to QMX and EXO-6 leaving a large gap until new TOS figures. Anyway, that's for the future. Like I say, I think it's just a matter of time, and early days. Wounds need to heal first.

News about updated merchandise from the Who showrunner is certainly promising.

I do wonder what will happen to the market price of the figures now.

Will they just fade into obscurity or increase in value.
Historically, DW 'collectable/ limited edition' merch tends to hold its value reasonable well.

"The proposed liquidators are working through the company's existing stock to recover funds but at this stage it is not anticipated this will deliver sufficient value to allow for a return to creditors," Begbies said in a statement.

"Those who have placed forward orders with Big Chief Studios are advised to contact their banks or credit card providers for refunds."

That's the route I have taken, although I'll probably still email my form with documentation this weekend anyway. Can't say I have high hopes, but hopes none the less. I've told my wife, who is being very understanding and great about the whole situation, I'm unloading from my existing collection to the exact amount I lost trusting big chief, if for no other reason to remind myself of the lesson and help me sleep at night feeling less like a fool.

Me too. Opened and docusigned disputes for every installment I paid between Aug 2019 and now. I doubt it will come to anything, but at least I can say I tried.
