I just put a cancellation request in for my InArt Joker. After almost being sick from what I’ve read about TW throughout this thread. So there should be a rooted version back up for sale.
Real question: because I’ve heard both horror stories and then others saying nothing bad,
Is TW really that bad? As of now I have a bunch of POs on their site along with Comic Sanctorum.
My first ever order from TW arrived fast and now orders I placed a month or two ago still say “Sender is preparing item for posting”
I can’t imagine they won’t send things, so the horror is that they’ll come late?
My shipping costs seemed reasonable for how cheap the figures were, so I guess I’m trying to find where the horror lies?
They’ll send it, but don’t expect anything to arrive quickly. I’m doing the same with all my InArt purchases (inc. rooted Joker) from them as I just don’t trust them with such high value figures. Going to spend all the credit on in-stock Hot Toys and have done with the company. Just be aware if it’s more than 30 days since you bought Joker with them that they’ll only give you store credit. Just remember with store credit to spend it all in one go as the coupon only lasts once and they’ll refuse to return any remaining balance to you. I’ve never had any major issues with them, but people who have YouTube channels (ie Justin) should be ashamed of themselves for promoting them the way they do.

Need to make room in a detolf down the road. Going to be going for this display when the figures arrive. Although will have to display purple coat Joker with Bales Batman.

Was this confirmed? I feel like I remember hearing it around when InArt announced themselves but then JND's Instagram got hacked and held for ransom (probably by Viper) and I have heard nothing since.

John pretty much confirmed it without saying.

Regarding the Jail cell sculpt if you look at the videos you can see side by side it's rounder. Not sure if that's down to expression, though the roundness Is giving it that look.

Odd as the proto seemed inscale.
Still hyped to see this for myself.

I'm of the opinion that Joker's head does indeed look a bit large, I will give the naysayers that.
I double checked my files and as I remembered, my cowl is actually slightly more than a millimeter wider than the fiberglass mold master was once scaled to 1/6, the height and depth are more or less identical. The cowl is also larger than the stock Hot Toys cowl and based on my analysis its in scale with the figure, so its about as close to a perfect 1/6 scale reference for head size as you can get. I find the idea that Ledger's head is bigger than the cowl as worn is extremely unlikely.

Hopefully it's just perspective making it look big. It doesn't really look much bigger than the DX11 head which doesn't seem too big in person to me.

It is indeed lens distortion and posture. To all those saying it’s too big, just take measurements for goodness sakes. Even compared to to real Heath (had to check due to this insane, insanely good I mean, funny and psychologicaly interesting thread) proportions are there, take a ruler and compare it with a Heath Ledger Joker full body frame.

I studied cinematography and know quite a bit about lenses, distortion, eye perception, and how our mind screws up. Best “easy” way to explain what’s going on is this:

BTW, that guy is equally realistic at both 16 and 200mm. Do you know thad dude or dudette you saw online, how they never (ever, ever, ever) look like they did on Instagram? Same thing here. For big, real people, we look better at a distance with a 20-35mm (hence Instagram). For smaller things, it will look weird if you are used to cinema look, which is almost always above 50mm. And guess what? TDK was mostly filmed with a 50mm and an 80mm lens on medium format, other lenses used were a 110 and a 180.

And if anyone of you is thinking “Ok, then we should just take a pic of the 1/6 figure with a 50mm and that would be it”… well no. Distance matters, lens quality matters… Are you bored already? Just wait until you get the d… thing, you’ll be happy, believe me. The day I get mine (if that day ever comes I mean, I still can’t believe that thing will make it to my little island) I’ll try to be as scientific as possible to show you its true proportions.

What do you think these figures will go for once the pre order is out and there’s no more in stock for retail? Just curious to know your estimations

With his hunched forward neck, it is possible the Joker head is "closer to the lens". So the head should not look big in his profile pictures.

I'm not bothered by this either way. I do not have a Bats to pose him with so no issue there.

In that picture of the two, that isn't your Bats head on Justin's DX19, is it?

I see it in other photos also, but not as much admittedly.

Not sure if lens distortion is to blame to be honest. Check out the screen grab. His shoulder is at the forefront so his head size can't be blamed on distortion. Compare the size of his head to his feet and they're not really in proportion. His face shape in general is just off as well, it might be the bridge of his nose from the looks of it, his massive jowl also doesn't really help.
But more power to those that can't unsee it, I unfortunately could not stop seeing the head size and body proportion issues.
I just got flashbacks to Sideshow's first Jedi Luke.

People thought this was fine, too.

Luke was on a shorter body which emphasized it more, but their other figures also suffered from big-head syndrome.

I’ll grab this totally random, not that great pics that actually show way less distortion, hence don’t look as BIG HEADED as Justin’s video to make my point. Main reason being lens is further away from the actual thing. Top to bottom proportion is bang on almost Vitruvius 8 to 1 ratio (body vs head). Feet length for a 12 US size (Heath’s) would be around 28 cm or 2 and a have yards imperial system give or take. Average height of a human head is 25 cm (2 yards, six feet and one ounce, correct me if I’m wrong). I mean, since we’re going freak, we are going full on 100% freak.

A picture is not worth a thousand words, but a thousand lies.

Distortion affects things in a similar part of the frame more or less equally. If perspective or distortion were causing his head to look too big then Batman’s head should look too big too, but it doesn’t, and we know it is accurately sized.

Heath did seem to have a large/tall head but I can’t shake the feeling that these heads are too blocky for the scale. Here you can see it’s still a tiny bit shorter than the cowl. If it’s off it’s not by much but it only takes a little to make it seem off. It doesn’t ruin the figure for me, but it does seem to look a little goofy if not photographed well. Excited to see how I feel in person.
