Totally get where you are coming from. Just sat and looked at my little Asmus collection. Before this figure was revealed I thought the Helm's Deep Legolas looked pretty decent, now he's looking a little bit naff.

GTW I think is the only one that will hold up respectably to the Inart releases.
Until you see InArt GTW.

Think this might be their best looking figure yet. Good lord is that a thing of beauty. We’re seeing 1/6 sculpts that look like 1/1 wax statues but in a mass produced 1/6 form factor. It’s crazy how giddy and excited this damn company has me after Hot Toys being so stale.

Someone stop me from preordering both the rooted + standard..

It's a dream figure. Every part of the figure is as perfect as you want it to be. That is the true potential of sixth scale figures with rooted hair and mixed media... Stunning !
:D

curious what made them decide this compared to the previous releases
Same, probably have something to do with production or it could be a way of them to secure more pre-order slots from resellers & customers.

Also I think I see what you meant by InArt eyes can be improved now

They're both magnificent but I think I actually prefer the sculpted by a little bit based on the photos shown so far. I feel like the face is framed better by the hair.
I love how bangs are curling over his face on the sculpted hair version, that's very accurate.

Now I’m wondering if even Infinity’s likely 1/2 scale statue version will be able to compete with this. Note that the others in the Infinity line also have fabric clothing and rooted hair. Their recent production release for Legolas looks pretty decent.

InArt just made an old Cavalryman very happy! Preordered Rooted hair version minutes after getting email from Kit! As many people have already said this sculpt will put most if not all other sculpts in the shade

There's a lot of iconic characters for sure, but for me Aragorn's journey from Ranger to King is the most interesting. He'll do nicely as my 1 character to represent them all.

If I were to expand it'd likely be Gimli and Legolas though. They'd make a nice trio, the 3 hunters.

Well, I'd put him on my one-off shelf next to Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly/Serenity and pretend they never made any other characters lol. Actually, I'd put him in front of him because this will make Mal's head sculpt look atrocious. Seriously though, the only other LoTR character that would tempt me is Legolas.

You basterds are endangering the contents of my wallet with this kind of talk.

So.....even though the pictures suggest that the only accessory difference between standard and premium is the shattered Anduril and two hands, the listing indicates that the standard omits the bow & arrows, quiver, quilt, grain bag, pipe, and even the base. That can't be right, can it?

Hopefully we get some clarification on that since the pic and written description definitely varies.
