At this point I feel like it would do more harm than good if they even bothered.

Even if they pull out all stops, mass production is going to butcher it, regardless of any amazing prototype they show off. They went far as hiring Kato to do the tailoring for the DX11, and it still ended up looking like crap. Granted it’s an “old” figure now, but even the 1/4th scale Joker’s clothing looked bad, and that was much more recent - and at a larger scale, where materials should’ve been easier to work with.

There’s no way they could capture the “electricity” that was around this release either. I’d argue one of the biggest factors for the hype around this guy was finally having someone who could piss in Hot Toys’ cheerios. Years of being fed up with their company hoarding and sitting on licenses, refusing to improve because they didn’t have to (which lo and behold, suddenly they’re trying now that InArt is on the scene), and dropping dud figures with zero effort because they can.

Even if they miraculously showed a Joker that looked even slightly better than this, I’m sticking with InArt. I’m sick of Hot Toys and their ****.

…Unless they finally do Penguin and Catwoman from Batman Returns, which they never will.
I 100% agree. Why bother. No company could do it better than inart have done it. What is honestly so cool about this is inart bowled down everyone in their first 1/6 figure. Beating out all third party companies attempts and the top dog hot toys in one hit. The hype around this release has been awesome, what a great way to start the hobby for me lol. I'm sick of hot toys laziness too. I'm still new to this, but that begins figure was atrocious and i was disappointed as i wanted one in my collection and instead we got the same crap they'd done since 2008, but somehow worse. They've made great figures, they're still making great figures but as of late they've gotten complacent since they're at the top, and no one could come for them. Until now. This is the kick up the ass hot toys needs to start putting in more effort again. And even with the great figures they're making, theres still annoying issues with them. I will keep buying hot toys, but i don't have any interest in the vast majority of figures out there, so probs gonna be like 3 hot toys a year lol.

The “jail cell” head sculpt is really growing on me. I might just display that on the purple coat body.

I’m excited to try different display options. I love the diorama.

Same here. Those last pics if the sculpts on those little T-1000 displays really showed it off. And I'm surprised at just how good the hair is applied. It looks as good as a custom.

A bit off topic, guys I just started collecting :) the thing is I live in a hot and humid country so can anyone pls tell me how to control your room humidity levels? Any tips or recommendations on any appliances? Many thanks in advance
There was a great post on here somewhere that I can’t find atm but it talked about having air conditioning in your collection room and investing in a humidity gauge and a dehumidifer. I’ve bought a gauge and I monitor it regularly to make sure it’s not above 60%, which it never really is, so I don’t think i need a dehumidifer. But where you are I would definitely think about these things and other investments to protect your collection.

Danoby is saying the deluxe will be $500 in the bargain bin later what do you think should we listen to Danoby? He is the veteran after all

Ignore him.

Since day one, he's been so pessimistic on every aspect for this piece. He's pretty much a Debbie downer on everything nowadays.

This is especially true of Hot Toys' attempts with DC. Ever since the Justice League line, I've felt Hot Toys have looked at DC as inconsequential. It's no surprise that out of all the licenses, that's the one InArt (and likely JND) was able to get. Marvel and Star Wars are treated about as well as you could hope from Hot Toys, sure there are misses and figures we've had to wait on for years like Padme and Mace but it's not at all like DC where Hot Toys completely skip whole movies, or only make the titular character and that's it (even when the movie makes a billion!). Even the Batman situation shows it, they marginally improved a headsculpt that, honestly, won't matter for many. With Batman, people usually keep the cowl on, and InArt have nailed the aesthetics of the suit overall. Hot Toys cannot compete with that. So where do they turn to try and create a higher level of quality? Spider-Man final suit from No Way Home, and Anakin and Padme from AOTC 20th anniversary. Marvel and Star Wars. I'd be extremely surprised if they ever made a 3.0 Joker because these Dark Knight remakes have just about been repackages with minor improvements. Catwoman will be the same.

He's using Hot Toys logic, to me that's foolish. We have no idea how many they made, we have no idea how the reseller market will play out, but this idea that it will end up extremely cheap is weird. This isn't Hot Toys with the easy distributor in Sideshow, where figures can go beyond the collecting community. This is how you get figures like that Battle Damaged Vader, like the Anakin and Padme, like Tobey. Friends who don't collect are messaging me about them and that they might be interested in picking one of them up to have just because they love the character or what not. Who is coming in like that to buy an InArt deluxe Joker? That's how you get those massive batches. And even Sideshow realises that this strategy of batches isn't working- and thus you get the waitlisting of preorders. I personally feel InArt is going to fulfill their orders, maybe make a few extra, and then this thing is going to be gone. Then people who have this 'bargain bin' opinion will be scrambling if they want this piece in their collection. Could I be wrong? Sure. People could cancel preorders, and then resellers could have stock. But skeptics are already beginning to be proven wrong by how the first batch has turned out AND the fact that they hit their December 2022 release date. And once video reviews start coming out...I think there will be people hoping to just get the opportunity to get one in their hands.

I think people who preordered and then aren't able to pay up now would be the only thing that'll create extras. Seems to be happening with all levels of collecting.

Because I collect both figures and statues, I've noticed a sharp contrast between the availability of movie Marvel and DC pieces.

In Hot Toys it's all Marvel, but in statues more manufacturers have been able to get various DC movie licenses.

It's crazy to me to think anyone would think this figure would LOSE value. Whats danobys deal? Hot toys figures don't even lose value unless they're re issued and even then sometimes the old one is still expensive anyway. Something like the inart joker will be worth probably double a couple months down the line since inart said they've only made enough to fulfill the pre orders. So once it's gone, it's gone for good.

this figure alone being limited and inart's model, if they keep it, similar to iconiq's where HOPEFULLY no reissues, will hold its value. the figure will only become more desirable. hot toys loses value a lot recently because of over saturation. I've seen mando figures go for as low as 180 and that's for the deluxe pack. opening a pre order window and allowing people to funnel in is a perfect model instead of over producing. whoever is genuinely interested can join and people who snooze, lose.

Yeah i saw that from iconiq. Honestly I'm looking at ebay now and some hot toys figures go for super cheap, but some are pretty expensive if they're a lot older. Honestly a re issue doesn't bother me (admittedly a little pissed about the 89 batman one right after i bought the DX one) but it does feel special that this won't be re issued, and thats a good company model to just produce enough to fulfill the orders. Costs are kept down, so it's a win win for the fans and the company. (Not a win for anyone who was broke though) plus these are also probably very expensive to produce as is so only making enough is smart. I just don't get what is up with this danoby guy. Why does he insist on making love to hot toys but craps on inart any chance he gets. This guy is wrong. Straight up just wrong.
