As a fan of John Byrne's work on Shulkie through the Fantastic Four and her own series, I thought the last trailer for this was quite good, and am looking forward to it personally. Particularly given that Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel were steps backward in my opinion. CG looked much, much better, it seems like fun, and you can't go wrong with Tim Roth and Daredevil. We will see.

I've always considered "Hulk" a classic, Universal Monster movie throw back where the fathers are the true monsters and it's more of a tragedy than a comic book movie. The scenes with Nolte I personally found riveting. I know I'm in the minority on this.:sneaky:
Ang Lee was at least smart enough to include that even though it bored most audiences. I mean, that's the basis behind the Hulk, right? His repressed childhood trauma from his father, manifests itself into his monstrous form when he becomes the Hulk. That's why he needs Doc Samson to help him out psychologically. Of course the MCU passed over all that.

I liked a lot about that film, and agree that the premise of Hulk's anger being based on childhood trauma makes a lot of sense. But it is an odd mixture of an art film and a blockbuster action film that when smooshed together didn't quite work as well as it could have in my opinion. Fighting mutant poodles and, I think a cloud at the end (can't remember exactly) were odd decisions. Nolte is a terrific actor, but like some other great talents, may function best when being reigned in a bit. I recall him being outlandish. Eric Bana may be the best live action Bruce Banner we've had, though I have a soft spot for Bill Bixby.

I always viewed hulk as a Dr Jekyll mr Hyde character. A man at war with science and his inner demons

'She-Hulk' Director Kat Coiro Confirms Disney Plus Series Developed With Focus On "Inclusivity And Making Sure That The Story Was Told Through The Female Lens"

Uurghhhhh, thats it… I’m done with modern films/shows… done. When this crap stops some one let me know…

In the meantime, I have a looooooot of old films and shows to watch to keep me legitimately entertained and not preached at or pandered to, or treated like I’m in kindergarten and require a ‘safe space’ at all times.

-_-

I'd get scared too if I were to walk alone in some dark alley.

My take is the Russo Brothers were basically trapped. They didn't have a hand in casting Mark Ruffalo ( I consider him a mediocre actor ), they also had no say in the first two Avengers film and Ragnarok.

What I suspected happened is the Russos gave Ruffalo about what they thought he could pull off on screen. Which is just not very much at all.

But I can see why some fans are pissed off. Hawkeye and Hulk did not get their own movies, and when they got their shows, it was really to hand the baton off to more "diversity"

If you can't give Hulk his own movie, at least give him his own TV show, but again, Ruffalo comes from like the Michael Imperoli School Of Acting, so he wasn't going to give you much. When Ruffalo did 13 Going On 30 and Jennifer Garner was more charismatic, I would call that the kiss of death for an actor. Maslany is a good actress. Steinfeld is a good actress. At least they picked quality performers here, but I can see the sting for many fans still over this.

I would have liked to see James Gunn with a Hulk movie. I think he understands the right balance of serious and also just plain fun. Can you imagine a cross over with King Shark, Peacemaker and Hulk ( just remove Ruffalo completely )

The show runner could be lying.

At this point, the "woke crowd" is a legitimate market share/audience share. They may simply be saying it to appease these folks and then do a bait and switch.

I still blame Ed Norton.

When he wants to care, Norton is a phenomenal actor. He's also proven he can lead a film. And since Fight Club, he even has sort of a cult following. Had Norton stayed on as Hulk, I do believe that the storylines for Banner would have been much more improved in all the Avengers films.

Also I think we would have gotten another stand alone Hulk film with real support and the backing of the entire MCU universe and fandom.

Ruffalo and ScarJo had zero chemistry. I mean zero. It's super hard to take two mediocre actors and force a romance on screen. You need at least one of the pair who can generate heat. In The Adjustment Bureau, Emily Blunt literally carried the entire charisma/charm factor for the film, because Matt Damon is a stiff. He just shows up, puts down his janitor mop and stops doing math on the hallway walls, and accepts all the parts that Johnny Depp never wanted. That's his entire career.

I have hope because Maslany really did a great job with Orphan Black. Showed a lot of range. Carried the entire show.

Still a big believer that Russell Crowe ( well an in shape version of him) would have been the best modern "Hulk". Crowe doesn't need to act to be perpetually moody and pissed off all the time.

The lack of a stand alone Hulk movie has nothing to do with who played him or Disney/Fandom support. It's a legal issue with the rights to distribution being tied up with Universal. Disney has the rights to use the character, but not in his own movie without sharing with Universal. This has been public/common knowledge for quite some time.
Hulk's Movie Rights Issues Explained

The distribution rights, however, are still owned by Universal, granting the studio the right to choose how many theatres a future solo film would play in, when it would be released, and how to handle its marketing

If it wasn't for this, there absolutely would've been a second stand alone Hulk film in the MCU after Disney acquired Marvel.

I can't imagine what the show's VFX artists must feel at this point. Marvel is so out of touch with what's going on.

It's jaw-dropping that someone would even THINK something like that, let alone SAY it :slap

It really is la-la land in Disney-Marvel's "them there hills".

.

Has one single Disney/Marvel/LFL filmmaker or actor said anything that has made someone go "oh cool well now I'm going to watch that show." No, all they ever do is say asinine things that drive people away and divide the fandom. They literally need to just completely shut their mouths and stop talking to the press and social media.
