Which I am. I've got every single red and gold suit and the mark 1, mark 2 with the new mech test on the way and the new height would bring things more in line. I'm still on the fence with the mark 5 re-issue though.
Hey Dave_W, as you're a die hard Iron Man fan, you should definitely get the new Mark 3 diecast 2.0 figure, as it's the first time Tony officially becomes Iron Man, making it one of his most iconic suits [and if you're on the fence about getting it, you might want to pre order it as soon as you can, as i'm pretty sure it will pre sell out pretty quick]........:)

Thing is, if I have the 1/4 and the diecast v1, do I really need to get this?

I think there’s enough of a difference to make it worthwhile. And if you get this, you can also more readily justify getting the inevitable new Mk 2 to match.

What’s with the timed preorders? Just for the exclusive versions?

It’s something they cooked up for what they call the Summer Showcase. It’s a terrible seasonal event where they arbitrarily clump a bunch of figure releases tougher, give them all limited Sideshow/Hot Toys store exclusive accessories, and call it fun.

It’s pretty awful. Most people either hated it or didn’t care last year so it was only natural for them to resurrect it this year.

Agreed. It’s frustrating because it’s really too important an accessory to be a limited time preorder bonus. For the price, it really should have been included as standard.

I don’t mind it being an exclusive but the time gating is just unnecessary. So for me, it’s preorder now or never get it because I wouldn’t want it without the crumped helmet. It won’t feel complete.
If you really want the official one I guess you're stuck, but in the era of 3D printing I can't imagine finding something that looks the part between now and 2 years from now would be that difficult

The only upside is this will certainly be delayed at some point, and its now much more painless to bail on preorders and get the NRD back once that happens if your tastes have moved on by 2024.

Gonna be funny for those to get the Mark 1 and display it with any other recent diecast IM figure. He's gonna look even more of a shrimp now that they raised the height on this Mark 3.

I never display my Iron Man armors together. Always just one at a time. I like to rotate them in the display 1 or 2 weeks at a time. So the height issue is really no issue for me.

Jesus christ just noticed it's not just the back cover that has an exposed screw, he has exposed screws at the knees too. Feels like a cheap toy.

This is a $455 2022 Hot Toys Iron Man 2.0? Looks like they're just using old Mark III parts for these areas.

If you look at the back panel there is a screw right at the battery cover on his upper back.

There are screws at the inner knee area also.

Exposed black phillips screws. This was a problem with the old Mark III. Which had even more exposed screws.
