As reluctant as I am, I'll give it a chance. The trilogy was fantastic, Hobbit less so but I can't not watch this. What scares me is the current state of politics and how all that garbage is forced into media through huge corporate machines. Alas, I'll give it a try.

Well IMO that kind of thing showed up in LOTR and the Hobbit films as well, or at least PJ's elf-love or his wanting a female fighting elf did. Like Boyens saying how Tauriel was needed to give young girls a role model blah blah.

Goes without saying the politics etc. interjected into this series. As well as, apparently, another cringe unneeded romance. I can't stand these short haired elves, like there is some metrosexual barber shop in Middle Earth.:thwak

But there is some stuff for me, anyway, like an interpretation of Khazad-dum, and Numenor, that might be kind've cool to see.

I actually think it looks good, more than worth a fair shot.
I do love the build up to Sauron... they are really hammering home the sense of dread, the "many names" quote, the symbol of the Eye, the orcs bowing in deference to the unseen figure, that old man "have you heard of Sauron?" in particular was intense.
It seems we will be seeing the Dwarves awakening Durin's Bane (Balrog) with their mining for Mithril, I didn't expect that storyline but I am interested!
It looks to me like Galadriel tries to sail to Valinor and her ship is ruined for attempting to violate the Doom of Mandos and indeed it looks like we get to see the Oath of Faenor itself.
All very interesting!

Is Kilmonger returning as the villain?

Wow, the lack of interest is deafening. :monkey3 :bunnydanc

But anyway new trailer:

If nothing else the YT comments are hilarious. 😁

Damn, they're fighting The Enemy™? And that one guy isn't the Hero they seek? Like famed legend Luke Skywalker wasn't the hero they needed him to be? And they all have to choose who they'll be? And there's like fear and fate and they both start with the letter "f"? Goodness, such thought-provoking lines and original content is tempting me to get an Amazon subscription!

Christ, this is embarassing. That one guy literally does an anime jump after jumping on chains. And if anyone's seen the leaked clip, Galadriel literally does the same anime jump, but she hops on top of a sword and then presses A two times to BigBingWahoo! I'm not even going to touch the cheap costumes, soulless acting and that nonsensical music. Seriously, who is this for? Middle aged housewives with nothing to do? Fantasynerds who'll eat up anything with a sword and pointy ears? This couldn't be more generic if they tried.

And these people have jobs and millions. Ponder that...
