As for probably remarks about plastic plants, there's no easy answers. You can use silk, but that collects dust. You can use real plants, and they get dry and brittle. Plus the scale issue.

If it's a cost issue, don't use them at all, but there are good looking options. I've seen to-scale artificial plants for use in scale model dioramas that look good -- and never seen a one-sixth company use them. Maybe they don't exist in 1:6 but again -- either manufacture them properly or don't use them because they look terrible.

Galadriel's height doesn't bother me since I use risers with her anyway. She's exquisite - wasn't even gonna get her at first.

For me - am no fan of plastic hair. IMO long hair characters especially. A vinyl hair Thorin, Thranduil, Gandalf, Galadriel would look ridiculous IMO. Plus the articulation thing. The custom rooting jobs on this forum really bring figures alive (tho, obviously, the owners know what they are doing).

Always shifting my displays around so it changes, but like a natural look so pick up tiles and small pavers at hardware stores, and bits of slate. A lot of times u can get broken tiles or pavers free. I use bookshelves tho not Detolfs so there's some height and weight flexibility. Also repurpose bases I pick up sometimes at Monkey Depot. Galadriel looks nice on the Lucifer elf figure base - that one has steps so it gives height.

Amazon sells clear risers if you want a cleaner look.

While similar but not exactly the same, at my first job, we used to get square stone and tile samples from interior designers (I’m an architect), and once we didn’t need them anymore, I’d take the fancy stone samples and turn them into coasters

That's actually a really cool idea! Especially for folks who like to burn candles - or use them in aquariums too.
Hardware stores are a gold mine for bits and pieces for 1/6 stuff, especially if u wander around the scrap piles. A big help in getting some height on figures - useful for my crammed shelves. . Tho the best for me is repurposing Phicen bases, usually. Phicen puts out some nice bases if you can get them parted out. I like to get Galadriel up higher so her cloak drapes nicely.

That's actually a really cool idea! Especially for folks who like to burn candles - or use them in aquariums too.

I agree, those Phicen/TBLeague bases are really cool. I've recently come around more to diorama type bases. Nothing too big, but something just so each figure has a bit more presence and height over the standard black stands. I also like the DamToys/VTS display stands.

They really nailed Elronds headsculpt. Looks better in person then on photos as well. Save that weird joint along the jawline its close to Hot Toys quality, by far the best Hugo Weaving likeness out there.

Yeah, when I got my first parted out base, was surprised at the quality. Was like getting a nice poly statue. I keep my eye out for bases I can repurpose - the aquarium store is a great idea!

But like this Phicen base - I think off a snow warrior figure - diorama bases aren't for everyone. They can be space hogs. Plus yah gotta drill or jury rig with putty, depending. But, I like my Gandalf on the road with a stand to go with. Like one of my favorite posters that IMO is the start of it all - sort of innocent but sort of ominous at the same time:

Actually ASMUS' Gandalf base would work pretty well for this kind of thing, except I want the gate for Bilbo. Am sure evil-bay would be happy to gouge me for a second base.

BTW, lurking around the WETA forum saw this - for the RUMOR mill. Have no idea as to the accuracy. Personally don't believe someone would release a 1,000$ 1/6 figure u might as well get a custom done.

I can't remember what Justin said which specific companies are currently regarded as higher-end than HT in Hong Kong. If I could remember which live stream it was on I'd report back, but there have been several streams since then & not knowing which one--that would take too long to try and find that 20 second sound bite. But QS is looking to be THE premium producer in this 1/6th figure area.

I can report back that Justin broke some more news this evening with his QS source stating that one of their first releases, the Ledger Joker, might have a couple different price options, including a limited, more premium offering with rooted hair. Now here's the real kicker part (or kick in the pants, if you will):

This info is not official, but he's hearing that price points on this release could end up over $700 for the base-line, sculpted hair version with maybe less accessories included while the full Artesian Edition (heads painted & hair punched by original professional, prototype artists) may go for as high as $1600 for rooted hair head version with a bunch of accessories. Yes, and we're possibly also talking about internal flexible wrists joints & fingers that are connected as one single piece all the way up to the mid-forearm as one of the new figure features as well.

Glad to see those price rumors weren't accurate. The sculpted version is $300. Unfortunately, if you want rooted hair, the only package with that feature contains two figures for a total of $1000 -- $500 each. Not a terrible price, assuming they offer rooted hair on single-figure packages in the future.

Don’t forget the diorama, which is worth a minimum of $100, so the haired figures really do appear pretty reasonable.
Of course that’s all dependant on perspective because, however you look at it, you still have to splash a grand to get them.

If they can do a single, haired releases for $400-450, it would be a bargain.
I expect QS to carry on using uniquely sculpted and painted forearms/hands but Legolas and Gandalf wouldn’t really need them- at least not to the same degree of Joker- so there could also be some savings there.

i am assuming this is not close to the final product but if it is......this is really terrible (in my opinion).
