I can't see Viper doing his artist thing on 800 or 1,500 or more 1/6th figures.

If the same style "artist edition" is offered for 1/6th, it's going to be hugely expensive and they'll only make 300 of them.

That said, there may be an "artist edition" that's more like a deluxe that has nothing to do with the artist and more to do with selling to completists.

It's my main worry with the hair. If extra care like the 1/4 2.5x price "artist edition" isn't put into it, it comes out not much better than anything else in the market. I think their 1/3 haired version which was only a few hundred more expensive isn't very good. Viper would have to do only like 50 of each figure to make it feasible.

These news have me pretty hyped and hopeful. I'm looking at losing ~100€ (deposit + 10%) if I cancel my DX19 PO, but I'm getting increasingly worried about keeping it. I've got payments until July. It seems like QS will take over the DC side, and since all my DC wants are Batman, GL & Vertigo, I'll feel weird having a single HT Bale while everyone else is a QS. I'm mostly tempted because the horror stories of broken pleather scare me, and I hope QS will improve on that. I'd be willing to pay an extra 100€ for a good BaleBat. I don't mind waiting either, it'll free my schedule too. Keep Ledger and Paul for this year, plus my planned HTs, and have Bale and the rest for next year which is pretty dead for me. The problem is if we reach 600$+, in which case I'd buy maybe 5 figures from all of pop culture. But I can't see them being "competitive" with these prices.

Any ideas here, people?

Didn't QS say the next two figures, Paul and Gandalf, will have real hair? So doesn't that mean 1/6th Ledger will NOT have real hair? Or they would have said Paul and Gandalf will also have real hair.

So people worried about real hair may not have to worry.

Is a Queen Bale even on the cards ? That's a pretty big gamble to take.

Also can't see the issue with having a HT Bale next to a QS Joker, but OK that's your problem I guess.

Confused on what you mean by that. Joker will most likely have a sculpted version and then also a rooted hair version.

They said that Gandalf and Paul will have rooted hair as well. No clue if they will offer a sculpted AND rooted version like Joker though.

I didn't see the show, did they say Paul and Gandalf will have rooted hair AS WELL? Then that would indicate Joker will too.

My point was, if they said only Paul and Gandalf will have rooted hair, then I would take that to mean Joker will not.

I have no idea if QS said Joker will definitely have sculpted AND real hair, though that has been the assumption.

See what this QS Ledger looks like first. Look at the HK release of Baleman, consider if it will be much of an improvement with QS. Then realize it will be at least another 1.5-2yr wait since he hasn't even been teased from QS yet and you get Baleman this Summer. Will the QS be worth the price of the figure, import price in addition to your cancellation cost?

Yeah, if QS does 1/6 TDK Bale it'll be like 2 years out at least. If you're worried about the next best thing you might as well not buy anything at all, because in the future there will be another 1/6 TDK Bale.

QS's 1/3 TDK Bats has a terrible cowled likeness. The Wayne sculpt is okay, but not amazing. So we can't assume everything QS does will be perfect and better than HT either.

I currently own the older Bale DX and I am not upgrading to the newer Bale, which will be better obviously. Is it enough of an upgrade to justify the higher prices of tax, shipping and figure cost? Nah.

I assume Ledger will get two editions, one sculpted and cheaper, and one pricier and with rooted.

They mentioned in the livestream that they'll make more TDK figures. Go a few pages back in this thread.

Different materials, different sculpting process, different "look". I don't like to mix figures, especially in "small" lines. It's a bit of a silly thing, especially since all these really high end lines go for Ultra-Realism, but it bugs me a tad.

I don't mind waiting. I don't have my preferred set-up ATM anyhow, so everything stays in their boxes. But yeah, seeing as Joker will go up for PO next month, and the HK released for Baleman is near as well, I could wait and see. That's the most logical option ATM.

Ultimately that's what it comes down to. HT BaleMan is perfectly serviceable, even if QS could top it by a bit. Where I PO from import charges and shipping are already calculated, so I don't have to worry the same way I do for things I order through other places. Question then is if it'd really be worth the, let's be charitable and say, 400€ tag, plus the lost 100€. I love Bale as an actor, and I grew to really like the suit, but I mostly want him as a companion to the Joker, whom I'm not even sure if I'll fork the 600+ for the rooted hair version. Christ, I've reached the point of wondering if a 350€ doll is "good enough"...

I don't mind waiting. If anything it'll help take off the load a bit. At the same time, I've already paid off half the figure. Whatever new PO I have to make will come out around May, maybe later, with DS2, apart from an MK (whom I'm expecting to go up around April), so by the time they're rolling out the Kenobi/DS stuff, I'll be close to paying it off. Losing 100€ just cause isn't a small amount either.

I get your point about the "gotta wait for the perfect figure" mentality, but I did wait 6+ years for a Doctor Strange. I've skipped every figure thus far because I was waiting for the most comic accurate look. I'd rather wait more and get the "perfect" figure than jump on something. But you are right that there's always something "new and improved" on the horizon.

It's just that since I've skipped every TDK release thus far, I wanted to shoot for the "defacto" versions this time. It's not like I'm disappointed with the DX019 all things considered. But I was banking on QS using better material and doing a better cape, so my mind wouldn't have to worry about the possible degregation of the pleather.

QS's 1/3 TDK Bats has a terrible cowled likeness. The Wayne sculpt is okay, but not amazing. So we can't assume everything QS does will be perfect and better than HT either.
I don't follow statue news, so I didn't know that. Interesting bit.

Thanks for the input. I'll at least wait for Joker to go up for PO and see in-hand pics of the DX019. But I think I'll most likely stick with it. JND's getting in the game, and I'll be repeating the same song when theirs goes up for PO. Screw it, I've got enough real life anxieties.

Again, I highly doubt Hot Toys will change anything. They have a massive ego after 20 years.

They haven't exactly set 2022 alight with Doc Ock and Peacemaker have they? Gotta love the ZERO communication they have with customers after such disastrous product launches.

Can't you switch it to a single payment on release and that way if it gets delayed you can ask for the deposit back.

Hot Toys has nothing to worry about until other companies start doing Disney/Marvel/Star Wars figures, which probably won't happen for a long time.

DC/Terminator/Aliens/Predator are stuff that they have now largely abandoned. I'm just glad other companies can pick up what they left behind.

Yeah thanks for this info Johnny ! I'd definitely love a chance at getting a BvS Superman !!
Yea if they're looking at BvS figures, I'd definitely be inclined to get one that is hopefully better than what HT has released given HT lazy re-use of sculpts and badly proportioned body. That said, I would much prefer a new Man of Steel figure as the HT one definitely shows it's age the most out of all the Cavill Superman figures made. Though, seems like pretty much no one is interested in doing anything from Man of Steel. Would love an official Faora that's better than either the custom and the Xensation one and a Zod with better headsculpt.

The stream was just a casual conversation and they were all over the place with topics, it wasn't a scripted presentation. They weren't even talking about Joker any more when they brought up Paul and Gandalf.

Tbh, the stream seems to have done more damage than helped, since lots of people still believe Justin's pricing rumor and now a bunch of people think they're going to be making figures from dozens and dozens of IPs that they only said they wouldn't rule out. The guy basically had two answers for every IP the interviewers brought up; if it was owned by Disney, the answer was no, if it was owned by anybody else, the answer was "yeah, maybe."

IIRC, the only IP the guy explicitly said was coming that wasn't part of that original teaser was Game of Thrones.

Seeing all of Johnny's posts, I would say he is ready to move on from Hot Toys. :lol

That's the sad part. An actual rep for Queen Studios says pricing will be competitive but yet folks still rather believe Justin no matter how many times he's been wrong with the info he gives out.
