Your gaming backlog sounds as awful as mine. I got into a fairly pessimistic mindset about gaming and some of my other hobbies for a number of years (due to working all the time). But, the pandemic and lockdowns brought me back to it. Recently, my interests have shifted more towards retro-gaming - more specifically, PS1/PS2 era games. I can always find time for those, and it's so much fun going back to my old library from the mid 90s to early 2000s. To me, this was the best era in gaming and modern games have just paled in comparison.

The original Metal Gear games for MSX 2 are fairly dated by today's standards, so I know where you're coming from. They do have a certain charm to them though, especially if you grew up playing those kind of games.

Oh, my backlog had gotten so big that I actively went to Steam and deleted a lot of games from my account. I literally flushed money down the toilet, but I'd bought most during the sales anyhow. I mostly did it because my completionism would compell me to get the physical copies later, and I'd already spent upwards of 500€ last year buying all the old games I'd missed back in the way. I spent about 80€ on that Nightmare Before X-Mas PS2 game if you factor shipping and taxes. So, yeah, I needed to cut down. There's still some I want to finish, but I can count them with my fingers. I'm burned out on most entertainment in general, but sometimes there is something new that comes along and makes me want to get into it. I'm curious to see how Mass Effect 4 turns out, and I genuinely want to try Death Stranding at some point (when I finally update my rig), but I can't think of much I'm looking forward to. GoW 5, I guess, to see where the story goes? The Wolverine game just because I'm an X-Fan? I don't know, the days of me following videogame sites and forums are long gone. Back in the day a 2-year wait was like torture. I'd devour every bit of info. Now I randomly see a teaser during E3, and suddenly the game's here, even after 5 delays, with me not registering when it all happened. Time's brutal...

For sure. I was looking at my RAH Croc Cap Snake figure the other day, and to me, the clothes still look better than 90% of the customs that I've seen. Mainly because the custom wet suits and gloves that people are using look so awkward. I think Lim would be able to deliver the type of release that Hot Toys didn't.

Now that I think about it, I believe the last time I actually followed E3 was in 2013 with the release of the PS4. But, games have definitely not sparked the type of inspiration for me either - unlike the the PS1/PS2/PS3 eras where I was deeply motivated to pre-order things and buy Limited Edition releases.

I tend to revisit older franchises a lot these days, and it's been an expensive endeavor. Like you, I gravitate towards physical copies, but for my case, retro-gaming prices have increased drastically because of speculation in the secondary market that's been happening for the last several years. Older horror games are drastically expensive too, and just the other day, I picked up a used copy of Silent Hill 3 (PS2) for $150 USD. Pretty hilarious that it was actually the cheapest copy I found in good condition with the soundtrack and instruction manual. I'm sure I'll have to buy a few other games as well (or at least just SH 4) .

As for Death Stranding, I was playing it on a fairly outdated PC, and it ran well at 60-80 fps at 1440p. My processor is an i5 3570 K from 2011 and I'm using a GTX 1080 card from 2016. I would've upgraded a long time ago, but 1440p is still the sweet spot of where I game, and even newer titles run pretty smooth at that resolution. I'm also not willing to pay $5,000 to build a new gaming rig with the current price increases from the world-wide chip shortage.

I gave up on Death Stranding a bit early on, but I plan to revisit it once the Remastered Edition is released on Steam. The repetition for tasks was a bit too much, but I loved the art and the vibe from this game.

Haven't bought any figures from it, but I do have the limited edition art book on pre-order. There are still copies available. It's being released this month.

I stopped paying attention at E3 around the same time myself. There's no point anymore. All the fun's been sucked out of it. I may just be growing too old for it, I don't know. But even mid-tier games used to be more exciting. Before it was cancelled, I was hyped as Hell for that PotC: Armada Of The Damned game. Now there's nothing to really get me going. The comic-based games, maybe. Wonder Woman could be fun, especially if the aesthetics and world are on point. I suppose I got tired of the same environments and plots. It's why Horizon kinda intrigues me; the world itself looks vibrant. Sadly, I haven't bought a console since the PS3, so I have no means to play them.

I feel you on the physical copies. For me, if I don't have it, then I've not really played the game. If I like it enough, I need the physical representation to add to my collection; period.

I'll probably upgrade my rig this year, as it's been since 2015. I don't need much, I'm not in it for the "epic graphics". I stopped chasing that dragon years back. I just want a comfortable enough experience.

I already think Sam Bridges has a cool design that'd make for a great figure. I think when I do play it eventually, I may add him to my shortlist of 1/6th VG-based characters.

You only have to upgrade your gaming rig when you feel it's necessary. If the games that you enjoy can scale well with older builds, then there's no real imperative to build a new PC every time - unless you enjoy doing it as an enthusiast and have the disposable income to spare.

I'm actually surprised at how well current gen consoles have caught up to PCs. So, it might be more cost effective to just play on a PS5/Xbox (if you can find one) instead of building a PC these days. The prices for new graphic cards are absolutely atrocious because of supply and manufacturing issues.

You can always try reformatting or adding an SSD. Malware viruses, and trojans can also slow down your PC.

I'm not a huge fan of the Mass Produced RAY design, so I didn't get the kit on the original run.

Oh, I envy you. I'm only just now really getting into the game after a long absence, because they're just now getting to my wants. I was always an X-Men/FF type of guy over the Avengers, and from DC I was interested in just Batman/GL/Vertigo, so while this past decade I wasn't tempted by much, now's when they've got me by the neck. VideoGame IPs never much get figures, and the random bits and pieces I wanted were sparse. I wish I was out, and as time goes on I find myself revising my list of wants, but I'm nowhere near done. Which does pose a problem with how the world is right now, but what can you do?

Meh. Personally, all I care about is a release date. Glad you guys are doing the MGS 1 and MGS 2 Snake figures, regardless.

Been meaning to ask, are there any plans for other characters as well? Would love Liquid and Raiden to go along-side the Snakes.
