I'm at 38 PO's, I proabably have space for about 12 more figures right now.

I need to move .

LOL, thus is the circle of life of the collector. My wife was so happy when we decided to build a new house five years ago. It was only later that she realized it was the square footage of the new basement and my plan to expand my collecting that sealed the deal for me. It does make for an excellent home office!

Also , what?s the HT ratio lately of live actor sculpts compared to helmet and non human face sculpt?

I know they always have favored non human sculpts , since they don?t have to pay for the likeness.......

IMO this is a huge factor for them, far beyond OT PT ST arguments.

Feels like about 100/0 % recently. I can't blame them as their MCU fest sort of winds down and they're starting to focus on Star Wars. With Mando being the hot property and so many masked figure options, I can see them milking the non-human sculpts for a while. Gives those who want the armorer some hope, I think.

Mostly , I am ok with an armored figure, but what they do with the clones and stormies I will never understand beyond the OCD of many collectors and the guaranteed sales they see in those people.

I think HT wastes way too much time producing armor figures , be it Mando OT ST or PT......

It?s also a great distraction from the conversation that we are never going to get a Bespin Han (or any Han) ever again.

So what is recently revealed that we think we might be seeing? Hunter, MandoV3 on Swoop and Clone Wars Obi-Wan is all I can think of. Bespin Luke was from 2019 with others that year that haven't shown up, so I don't count on them. Book of Boba is in Dec., so it will be interesting what we see from here till then.

Sadly basements here aren't really a thing and getting a house with a spare room that size is out of my price range

Someone mentioned in the Rex thread that the recent bump in helmeted figures probably had a lot to do with covid last year and the painters not being able to work at full capacity. Kind of makes sense. They probably focused all their attention to the Marvel cash cow and just pushed Star Wars troopers and helmets in the meanwhile. We're starting to see more sculpts again this year so that trend should continue now that they're back to full capacity. Theory kind of checks out in my opinion.

I like you wezy but quit being an idiot. Of course I believe Chan when he said that ST figures sold poorly. It just made me wonder how poorly and how well figures from other movies and shows are selling.

The impression I'm getting is that Mando sales are blowing away everything else (including OT and PT) but I'm curious about whether that hunch is correct and to what degree.

People keep acting like there's some hurdle with actor likenesses in Star Wars. Unless something drastically changed all actors were forced to sign away their likeness rights when taking roles in the films.

I think people who have not actually visited the parks may be jaded in their opinions.

Most of the park just feel SW. it?s does not specifically feel ST. I felt all three trilogies were present in the designs and It only played to the ST in a few areas.

The PT was the least represented.

Rise of the Resistance, although based on the ST characters and story, did not really feel overtly ST to me. More of a general SW adventure. There is no way in hell any OT or PT era actor likeness will ever be in GE. I just don?t think it?s possible for Disney for some reason. Some kind of contract thing. It?s not that they don?t want to do it, I think they cannot do it.

The only OT or PT references are ships and droids.

Believe me if it were legally possible, they would have done it.

Khev, the reason your argument is stupid and you are being an idiot here is because you think ST sales are “awful” relative to OT/PT/Mando. You somehow tried to draw a comparison to ST sales to ESB ticket sales relative to ANH ticket sales. Utterly ridiculous because George Lucas made 5 more movies after ANH. They sold well enough to warrant more and more and were by no means sales were awful. Meanwhile the ST figures sold so awful companies couldn’t justify continuing to release any thing from the movies because even compared to something that isn’t super hot like Mando, ST sales were still awful.

ST sales were awful. There is nothing to compare it too because they were so awful they stopped making merch completely.

Didn't Cushing's estate need to sign off on his likeness being used in Rogue One? I have no idea if when that is signed and agreed upon, that then they can make as many figures as possible without the actor or their estate signing off on it for that movie/show. I seen that Lucasfilm does a digital scan of all the actor's likeness so that they might be able to use it in the future. But again, the estate or actor would need to approve that likeness being used in a future show/movie/etc.

Things were different back then. Toys weren’t the thing they became remember?
There’s lots of examples of older films having likeness rights issues.

Now I think it’s just standard.

I don't know what the rules are for recreating actors' likenesses in a movie, but I believe that with regard to merchandise all the actors save the ones who played the Tonnika Sisters had to sign off on their faces being used on whatever products that LFL wanted to market. That said I do think that LFL has tried to be at least somewhat accommodating if an actor complains about something. IIRC Gentle Giant covered up their Slave Leia statue's butt after Carrie complained and I believe that Andy Bergholtz said that his original Mace Windu sculpt somewhat bothered Samuel L Jackson who wanted it to be less lifelike and more idealized. I never thought of SLJ as the self conscious type about his appearance but there you go.

I think bringing the dead back to life in a movie was more of a courtesy for the family, in regard to Cushing and fisher for rogue one. That would have been crummy to do if the family didn?t sign off.
As far as Ford, some believe he renegotiated his likeness rights when he agreed to do the sequels. It makes sense that they would bend over backwards for him, so who knows??
It?s all speculation because how is it possible to only have smuggler and stormtrooper han? Something must be up. Ford also seems like a jerk about Star Wars, so he could be the hold up.

Well I do remember that the OT actors signed their rights away as in not making a profit of it, which is how George rolled in the dough so big. But after that I would assume the actor's agents are on top of that since then. Might be in the contract when you sign up for the movie, bigger bucks up front then the ability to sign off on likeness. But is it any figure of their character have to be approved by the actor? I know Lucasfilm does a review of all merchandising, but just too many questions.
