Note that the base isn't a repainted Jawa clamshell, but the same style that Hot Toys had at their Secret Base virtual Comic Con:

It's an interchangeable graphic card with an attachable plastic snowdrift.

It was less refined at the show, with the graphic card overhanging the base:

I wish they went with a different expression. It looks a lot like MMS429 Luke. For a split second I thought it was a X Wing Luke. I think that just added to the disappointment.

That is a nice improvement to the base over what I thought we were getting, but I would still have preferred the Snowtrooper base myself.

Having Luke stand on a pile of snow in the shape of a muffin just looks a bit odd.

I was sitting with the wife watching tv before and she was griping about work and how stressed she is. She asked why I was so calm. I smiled to myself and thought how great it will be to have 2 snow speeder luke figures. Priorities

There is peace to be had amidst the turmoil, and if it comes in the form of 2 Snowspeeder Lukes, more power to you, man.

The one I wish..... Han bespin

Probably Dagobah Luke [Bespin 2.0]

Though We need a new Han.

Wow...24 hours later and sold out at Alterego, waitlist at Timewalker Toys. I am thinking retailers are being conservative with the current climate. Who knows where anyone will be in 2 years. Hot Toys needs to solicit items closer to release. If it's about production numbers and forecasts, they shouldn't need a full two years to lock in their quantities.
Sold out at BBTS as well.

Absolutely. Something powerful about having a hobby to destress. Id say its an absolute need. Especially during these times.

For all those thinking the 2 years timing is crazy. Firstly yes it is.

But think about this. Hot Toys still has many S2 Mando figures to get out in a relatively short period due to it being an annual series. (Say 6 figures ??) They also need to get on top of several late Marvel figures etc.

By announcing Snowspeeder Luke this ?early? they can also maximise their pre-oders.

So yes it sucks, but there is perhaps some method to the madness.

I still wouldn?t be surprised if they decided 2 years as a basic timespan and once their schedule is better known and they know if Mando S2 is a success or not, then it may be reduced. Covid allowing of course.

Like I wrote before this was done in the past for a couple of Marvel figures as well when they were mega busy.

Dont roast me on this. Just trying to think why they would come to this timing rather than simply complaining about it.

Except the retailers still only have about 4-6 weeks to lock in their PO's with Hot Toys. That window isn't extended by the long lead time to release. So either retailers underorder based on the PO's they get in this short window, which will be low because many collectors won't see the rush to PO this quick and cough up an NRD or full price as many retailers also have that policy, or they gamble and over order and hope they aren't stuck with stock that moves too slowly. Slow moving stock is a big problem for retailers, especially the smaller ones. There is no situation this is a win - under supply or over supply. If Hot Toys can't produce the figures then they should not be putting them up. This just pushes the problem out and PO to production times will just keep growing leading to further lost sales from shortened production runs and higher costs.

Another potential issue for retailers is we know collectors are a fickle bunch. Too long and cancellations will mount as people move on to other things. Sure some will then get to keep the lost NRD, but they then have an expensive figure they thought they sold at full price potentially ending up on clearance. I just can't see how such long windows can have any upside. Especially for retailers.

Oh, and I wants ma dollies now, now! NOW!!!!!

Re: Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back - 1/6th scale Luke SkywalkerTM (Snowspeeder Pi

In all of the pics so far, the chinstrap gets tucked under Luke's headgear instead of coming from the helmet itself (like it should be). That makes me think the helmet splits apart. But maybe it's a magnetically attached one-piece that slides on, and the chinstrap is separate so as to make that an easier process.

BTW, they also threaded the strap itself on the wrong side of the chinpiece for these promo pics, so who knows what's going on. :lol

The way its threaded through the chinpiece in the HT preview pics is actually correct for the moment where he uses the saber on the ATAT belly - even though it goes back and forth from that back to the way you've shown it. So both ways are technically correct.:lol

While I respect what you are saying even without pandemic wave 2 and 3 at a minimum you are looking at SS not getting this until fall 2022 but add another pandemic and forget about it SS won?t see this until 1st Q 2023!

Yeah as far as I?m concerned this is nothing but a photo of vaporware.

Either way it is what it is. There has to be some reason for it.

But will be interesting to see where this comes in. I guess we'll know in 1,5-2 years.

Most of everything is pushed forward not backwards.

Hell the way things are pushed forward BBTS won?t see this until 2023.

Add flex pay at SS and you are really in for a long wait.

Hopefully i?m wrong and this will be out Spring 2021 lol

???
If something's pushed back, it's delayed.
If something's brought forward it's earlier than expected.
