He started out his career in comics as a teen prodigy in the late 40's and into the 50's. Lots of lesser known stuff (Buck Rogers, an alternate "Ghost Rider", lil Abner). Please google it. He had an N.C. Wyeth feel to his paintings and was more selective with details in order to lead your eye around the picture. His comic book art is nothing but detail with line art so dynamic, it flows so much better than a one shot static pose. He was an absolute master!

Oh wow! I didn't know this I thought he was more of a cover artist or did posters mostly. That's amazing to know that, thanks for posting man I wonder what a comic of Conan drawn by him would have looked like. (assuming something isn't already out there lol)

He could do it all! Here's a few more examples of his line work.

Great art. The last photo of the cop shooting his own foot might be my favorite one. :monkey3

Frazetta was such an iconic and influential artist. Wish someone would compile his best work in a Taschen-quality coffee table book. It’s really deserving of such a treatment.

Found this sketch Frazetta did of Conan. One of the inspiration for mezco's promo image slightly. b6f2886f8b1b0cc98f0436036d9cb6e7.jpgNWMJHMr.jpg

Thanks! Didn’t know about this (doesn’t seem to be up for preorder on European Amazons. Will certainly be on the lookout. Just watched a review on youtube and it!s exactly the kind of thing I always wanted. Hope they produce enough quantities.

I know. I really had to restrain myself. (And of course now that it's sold out, I'm wondering if I made the right call... :lol)

Hmmmm. BBTS has mine in August 2020. Mezco’s supply chain appears to have imploded with delays so your dates are MUCH more likely.

This is the Conan figure I've wanted since the mid-70's.

It's sold out just about everywhere.

I hope Mezco One:12 produces more Frazetta inspired figures.

Did you see the Death Dealer they revealed during SDCC? I didn't realize this one was selling out, but there's so many Mezco dealers on FB, I'm sure a couple will have extras.

Which version is more accurate? I prefer Mezco version, but I feel both are missing an opportunity to provide a light up feature for the eyes. Maybe Mezco will include a secondary sculpt with light up eyes.

I'm not a Frazetta expert at all, so I'm not sure. If I had to bed Mezco will include light up eyes, they love that **** lol.

The death dealer figure from Mezco looks amazing...as far a skin tone it’s hard to say what’s accurate. Seems like Mezco was going for a death dealer 3 look Since the skin looks blue (and the pose they have him in) but then he should have scale mail sleeves I think....in other paintings death dealer has a natural skin tone.

Thanks dukefett & Clown Prince. I defintely prefer the Mezco. I'm not a fan of the seamless bodies. I fear they might degrade rather quickly.
