I really wish 1/6 scale toy companies came up with a more realistically proportioned body for normal human beings. Despite the amazing face sculpts in most cases (and this line is a case in point) all realism flies out of the window when characters that are supposed to be 60s-thin look like they could be on the cover of Menshealth. These figures could do with better bodies. The current ones (especially the v2 bodies) work well with some characters better than others, but seeing a McCoy with the body of a Chris Hemsworth when in real life he had little muscle and no neck ... eh, they really should make more of an effort to present bodies that are accurate to the source.
The only 1/6 company ever did this was CZWO. They are gone. I had extensive discussion with the 2 founders in regards to their Soccer Line because this line was exactly what TOS needed, Thin Jersey materials with lots of different body shapes. (I was looking for companies to obtain 1/6 trek back in 2014, talked with DID, ToyCity, ZCWO, and many others. No one was interested)

There is economy of scale for this. Each body would need about 10k production to have any possibilities to have any Return on Investment.

For TOS, this means over 150k of initial investments just on different body shape. 1/6 Trek would bankrupt before it starts. You would have serious problems stopping any bleeding from injuries (bad situation in production), and eventually breed-out.

Therefore, any company just wanted to do 1/6 and jump into the field without a 3-5 years plan would ended up like ZCWO (planned still failed) or any failed 1/6 before them.

1/6 is NOT a wishful business that anyone can do. It is a business model that require Forward and Backward integration strategies and controllable operations. Just like a restaurant, imagine your amazing chef is resigned and open his own restaruant across the street.

The only ones that are doing this comprehensive business modeling are HT, 3Zeros, Asmus, BBICN, and Star Ace. The rest is heading to a dead end, just matter of when (beside SS)

Damn these all look so good. I know the Kelvin series is pretty much over now and people are more excited about the new Pike series, but I'd still buy these in a heartbeat if they were made.
There are tons of fans who like KTL. Mostly ladies. I had about 500+ ladies trek fans who expressed strong desire for KTL figures.

NO companies look at Female customers. I did (within Trekverse), and they are huge.

I have no idea what it’s like to run such a business of course, but all I’m asking is for one body - just one - that looks like a normal non-hero human being. Doesn’t have to be exactly like, say, William Shatner circa 1966; it could be used by more figures so I guess such an investment would be spread over several (many?) different releases. I’m sure you’d see a return eventually.

I mean - I’m honestly asking - how hard is it to have a base body with smooth lines, no abs, no pronounced trapezius and biceps ... you know, like people who don’t spend five hours a day at the gym.

As I said, it really impacts the realism achieved with those beautiful face sculpts et cetera.

Good news for the buyers, bad news for the line. This destroy some of 1/6 trek future possibilities. Selling way under cost destroys the Perceived Value of the line.

Everything I saw as No-Nos in my entire career life are being used.

I have come to accept that I got an excellent Picard, and amazing TOS crew minus Chekhov and Uhura, Plus an unexpected Khan, and a great Captain?s chair to complete the display...and that is it. I have no illusions about ever getting more 1/6 scale Trek figures and am just happy that I have the amazing set and display that I have.
Would I enjoy it more if I could squeeze Uhura and Chekhov in with the rest of my crew gathered around Kirk sitting in his chair? Yes!
Am I overwhelmingly happy with the display that I have as it is? Definitely yes!
They are great figures and I am happy that I have more 1/6 scale Trek figures than I ever imagined having.

Anyone expecting every character to have their own unique body in this hobby is naive and unrealistic. Nanjin has explained this over and over, and yet people keep asking. There’s a reason why we don’t often get unique figures like Drax. If you want unique bodies, be prepared to start forking over $1000 for each figure.

I didn’t ask for unique bodies if you care to re-read my posts. I only said I wished there was ONE unique body to cater for all those characters who don’t have the physique of a Menshealth cover model.

Actually, I am expecting that, at least as much as possible. New bodies can be done with retained body development expenditure. With this in mind when doing prior production when less than ideal bodies are used. Provide a channel for the end users to obtain this upgrade at a reasonable price. Production cost is covered by the intended usage.

And I did just that, I have Kirk, Old Khan, Spock, Picard, XXX, and YYY. All ready to go when they have their own production.

Everyone is happy, or there is a way to be more happy, including the Mickey mouse who lives in my garage, extra food for him.

Which company does not have its own body? Not to mention after a few years of operation? That's the one that has no idea what is 1/6.

My entry for this month's competition word "Outdoorsy"

"And one - two - three... what are you giggeling at, ensigns?"
"Nothing, just enjoying the view!"

(I keep seeing people in the local park doing their sports outside so I got this idea)

I think I will go back to what I was doing before QMX came out with their TOS figures (Thanks Nanjin!!!). Looking for someone who is making customs, whether it's just the headsculpts or uniforms. The earlier custom versions of Kirk, Spock and McCoy, at the time, satisfied my search for 1/6 TOS figures. Now the bar is higher, but the options seem to be fewer. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, and the cost will likely be higher. There are lots of talented customizers out there and there's things I think I may be able to do myself. I would rather be able to buy what I want-but reality will force me to go another direction.

I'm also working at making more of the equipment, bridge stations and other sets to display my figures. That has been both challenging and fun. Lots of trial and error!

I'm having more fun than ever with 1/6th--almost all due to the TOS figures.

V2 Kirk and Spock arrived today from bigbadtoystore. Set them in along with Sulu who came a week ago (thank so much Nanjin!). I got Barbie Uhura for a great deal on ebay a few months ago. I think she fits in pretty nicely. Mccoy is a custom I got of ebay around 5 or 6 years ago. Nanjin did the outfit and accessories for him and Spencer did the headsculpt. As I missed out on the QMX version he's a good substitute. I also missed out on Scotty, and I'm just hoping that the pre-order I have is filled, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'd prefer having the exact same scene in V2 film outfits, but these figures are very well done and I'm glad to have them in a central display location.
Thanks Nanjin for your help and all your hard work!

I am sure that they will have a lot of super deformed novelty figures that no one asked for!

ProtocolD is right!

That's my intention, too.

Nice crowd! However, Uhura looks much to tall and much to thin, but be happy with what you've got since there is very little chance that Uhura will ever show up, unless it is Nanjin talking about XXX and YYY meaning Uhura and Chekov.... I think he is working on a new way...
