I don't get why grading figures is a thing unless it's for resale.
Best to open and pose and display!!!
Hanging for the Fett to drop on Popcultcha...
I've seen on a modern Star Wars collecting group someone who'd had graded a bog standard 3.75" Hasbro figure from the Attack of the Clones range[emoji54].

I've always tended to agree. Even if you DON'T open a figure, I never understood why someone would pay to have someone else tell them the condition. It's like, my eyes work, I can see, I don't need that validation. BUT yeah for flipping, ESPECIALLY on the internet where pics can be deceiving, that's a big reason. Also I know people who've just grown, for lack of a better word, a fetish for it. It's not enough that it's mint, it's not enough that it's sealed (even stuff w/no window where you CAN'T see the toy), they need to have it validated by some imaginary body of nerds. It's just a preference some people have. It's like they love the satisfaction of having it be "official" that theirs is MOST MINT!

I have a question about the Vader Suits. I'm reading several posts from collectors saying they're going to wait for the ROTJ version. I can definitely tell the differences between the ANH and ESB costumes, but ROTJ? Other than the chain on the cape, what does this costume have that makes this unique and holding out?

Isn't the ROTJ costume super glossy? Where are the unhealthily obsessed Vader collectors when you need one?

The costumes from ESB and ROTJ are pretty much the same. I think the main reason people are holding out is that there is a chance the ROTJ will have a more accurate helmet. The ESB figure has the worst helmet of the Hot Touys Vaders. And a ROTJ Vader would have a full reveal head.

The 3 that I know of are:

1. Eye shape is different more rounded
2. Biggest helmet of the 3 (like shaquille o neal big)
3. Even glossier than ESB

There could be more differences.

But I think many are holding out because he will come with all the extras that the 1/4 version had like fully unmasked head and hand stump.

Maybe a locket with a photo of his squeeze AssHoKa

Rosario Dawson will definitely be bringing the ass to the name Ashoka lol

I?m curious about the cod piece and gloves but that means I have to look it up on the phone i?m already holding and i?m too lazy to do that.

What's the point of buying an expensive sixth scale figure with accessories and good articulation to just keep displayed in a box?

I was actually thinking if they?d be bold enough to
HEAT SEAL IT in a blister ON A GIANT kenner styled CARD!

That would be interesting...
Resist opening that! Or at least something that could be reusable

A blister, sandwiched by the cardboard.

They already did that especially for the last Stan Lee packaging. It was able to be opened and closed without damage. But looked like a Kenner card style packaging.

Spawn kickstarter will have reusable collector value friendly packaging.

Only problem....

It?s Spawn lol

Honestly, I just want the unmasked head. I'll never use it, but I want it for completionist reasons. Plus, I think the little chain while a small change, completes the look. It reminds me of Cape Clasps.

And speaking of TFU, I'd do bad things for some Starkiller figures...

Yeah, yeah, "not canon anymore", whatever. I'm just saying, I'd buy all the SK figures. And Hell, you know what? Lucas helped write that, it's canon *********! ****ing KK, you and your ****** ST. Mara Jade's canon to be you *****!

Well, I preordered this. Happy camper now, all left in SW is an ev. Eps. III Obi-Wan, but funding's scarce for now.

Pretty much what Zeiss said and also the cut off hand would be an expected accessory too. With both costumes being almost the same, I'd pick the figure accessories over the base accessory. It's nice but I'm not buying the entire figure just for the base or the back of the head reveal. Without some chamber or chair for him to sit in, it's kind of the most useless 'feature' for the figure.

Only thing that's tempting me about this is the iconic scene the base represents. I have the ANH Vader and he's just fine for my collection, but I do find myself suffering from a bit of ESB fever!

Appreciate the replies.

After watching reviews, this looks like a solid Vader Figure.

My only con is the top of that helmet. They should have put a magnet on it. I don't like the fact that it can pop off so easily. I own several Hot Toys. Love the accessories, but they're a royal pain to put on. Feels like I'm going to break something. Figured Hot Toys would be able to make it easier.

Pretty sure Starkiller was never canon?

Thank Goodness for that. Starkiller's Character was ridiculous and I hated the way it portrayed Vader and the Emperor.

The top of the helmet will drive you nuts if you suffer from ocd.

I?m being serious the floor vibration from walking makes it move ever so slightly off center just enough to catch your eye and drive you crazy lol
