That and the pretty large amount of development and tooling that goes into a new suit.

Plus it's become the standard which people will pay for this type of high end collectible.

Yes Subzro you are right about the "diecast" figures not being completely diecast and that does detract from the thrill a bit. However I have the Civil War Iron Man and Civil War War Machine and I love the overall heft of those figures. Also even though I will admit that this is somewhat irrational, there is a part of me that really enjoys knowing that some parts on those figures armor is actually metal.

That said, I cant wait for this Endgame Thanos to arrive next year, as some of you have mentioned I am sure that even with plastic armor this guy is going to be hefty and will have a ton of shelf presence!

I enjoy the Diecast weight it brings to the figures, but if the metal is only a minor part of the overall figure as some of you are suggesting, then I suppose it's akin to Beats headphones, where they only add weight to make it feel more premium...and if that's the case then I would feel a bit cheated...

The diecast is a bit of a gimmick just to add weight and the associated illusion of a more premium feel. They are priced astronomically because they know people will still buy them.

I say as I await the Mk 50 and 85 to go with my other Diecast Iron Man figures.

There is no question that the diecast figures are more stable (lower center of gravity) and can hold more dynamic poses without a stand. This may or may not be a factor for you depending on how you display your figures. To me, diecast is worth it, but I am also a Chogokin collector so I have a metal bias.

And due to Thanos’s size, I’m sure he wouldn’t have any problem holding a pose. He’s going to have a lot of heft. So if the point of die-cast legs on IM figures is to give it more gravity to hold dynamic poses, Thanos having some die-cast components to his armor would be a pure gimmick.

True, he should be pretty stable. He has big feet too. It’s more of an issue with a typical Iron Man than Thanos. Female HT figures are the least stable by far.

I'd also like some workable arms that don't bend like a paper towel tube. I mean, come on, HT, these are not small arms that are hard to work with.

I have all the DC IM figures minus the Mark 2 but i bought them for the design more than what they are made of. I always joke that HT will start rereleasing all of these in carbon fiber saying it's high tech and light just like the real suits .

I'm looking forward to seeing how they do a DC MK1 as there is not really a lot of places to add thick metal to the legs.

I would hope they'd finally address the height too... both HTs are underscaled.

After the DC Mark 2 & 3 i would guess they would keep them all in the same area height wise. HT is stubborn like that

I wanted to get the Mk II but got turned off by the short stature. I hope the Mk I is scaled with the V and VI... and VII and 45, 46, 47, 50...



If the Diecast Mk I is the same height as the Mk I 2.0, then I'll just keep my 2.0.

In space, no one can tell its diecast.

Agreed. I'm honestly shocked that it wasn't released as a10th anniversary. Iron Man has been their bread and butter, why not celebrate the one that started it all? Especially since it's the only one of the original 7 that hasn't been given the DC treatment.

Oh well, something to look forward to.

I purchased it. One of the few suits I have posed flying. I’ve had several compliments on it, that solid steel paint scheme really draws the eye...
