Of course I'd prefer Sideshow doing these figures because I love Sideshow but if they said they have absolutely no interest in doing this line I'd be thrilled if someone else would do them, as long as the quality was as good as Sideshows. Now, I'm not familiar with this company. Any links so I could get an idea of how their products look?

Majestic is definitely a step down from Sideshow. Their sculpts are a bit rougher in appearance and the tailoring is a bit dodgy. But a decent alternative if Sideshow takes a definitive "no" stance to the Serenity verse.

Here are some past MC reviews for your persual. He has some great pictures to use as reference. Also, the Majestic is newer company and is constantly refining their offerings. Besides, every one I've talked to says that these figures look better in person.

Here's the Majestic Barnabus:

Here's Anton Phibes:

And here's a couple of their first Battlestar Galactica offerings:

And they are producing figures for the new Battlestar Galactica show. They are going to have a SDCC exclusive of the new Cylon. You can read about it on this thread:

Hope this helps FF!!!

Thanks for the links PZ. Just wanted to tell you that the BSG one is the same as the Vincent Price one but I got the idea anyway of how they look. Definitely like Sideshows products better. They just seem to really capture the look of the person. But, if Sideshow won't do them and this company will I'll buy them if they are halfway decent (as in better than the six inch ones!).

I'm still holding out hope that Sideshow will soon make an announcement that they will be doing Firefly.

Masao, I tried to view your page but only got an error message.

Ooops! I have corrected the link to the BSG figures.

Sorry about that. :monkey3 :monkey3 :monkey3

I'm still waiting for the guy over on the OSW to finish his Mal. It was a very nice version and, painted properly, could be a great addition to the collection. As soon as i hear I'll post a link here in case any of you might want one.

Is he doing a headsculpt or full figure? I hadn't heard anything about this until now... but it sounds exciting!

All of the main characters for me. Top 3 are Mal, Zoe and Jayne followed by kaylee, Book, Wash and Inara. Simon and River would be a great 2 pak.

So only Mal has a following and not River or Jayne or Inara?

 Ok

I don't think Morena Baccarin wants me "following" her. :D

Actually, I'd buy ANY 12" Firefly/Serenity that gets made... if the likeness is reasonable enough.

But Mal seems to me the strongest of the characters in terms of sales to push for... that is IF a certain collectible company should happen to pursue the license....:monkey3 :monkey3 :monkey3

I am up for a whole line, and would get the whole crew, Badger, Saffron, Jubal, Mr. Universe, Tracey, The Operative and anybody else SS would make, either the movie or the series. The Diamond Select toys were abominable though, and no amount of repainting could save 'em.

Those Diamond figure were abysmal... and what's worse is they looked like crap even in the prototype phase. Too bad... I think if a company were to venture on the Firefly figures they could test the waters with a Mal... I'm sure he would sell well and could be a good guage for the vitality of the line.

I have to think that a large part of the reason the movie didn't do as well as it could ( I don't mean to imply that it didnt do well, just that it could have gone bigger) even with the promoting is that some people (me at the time) had no idea what firefly was or what the movie was supposed to be about. I remember my exact first impression of the tv preview was, "well that doesn't look bad, no idea what it is, maybe I'll see it if nothing better comes out. "

It wasn't until later that a friend informed me that I needed to see it because it was amazing and joss. Still I waited until I finally got the firefly boxset for christmas and realized what I had missed.

If I only knew then what I know now.

Yeah, I think Universal had a problem promoting this film. If they widely promoted it as a continuation of the Firefly series then they might scare away the general public who didn't see the show. And if they didn't mention the series, they run the risk of not informing the fan base of the film existence. I think that the grass roots screening campaign was a good idea... but it's still didn't get the word out enough about the film.

You can't stop the signal... but how do you know that the signal was even recieved?

I have a friend that doesn't go to movies much that was stunned to find out that there was a Firefly movie. He had stumbled onto the show when it originally aired and bought the series on DVD when it first became available. But the information that there was a Firefly movie never reached him. He is a fan of the show but hasn't actively searched for new information about the series like throught the internet. In fact, I didn't know that he even WAS a fan until I became one and told him about the movie... I was trying to covert the already converted! He just thought that the show was over... and had no reason to believe that it had been resurrected in ANY form.

I'm sure he wasn't alone.

I also find it strange that we keep hearing about how well the TV series is still doing on DVD. Well, how about "Serenity"? I get the feeling that there a gap between sales numbers... that "Firefly" is somehow out selling "Serenity." How is that possible? If somebody buys the $40 box set of "Firefly" wouldn't that same person also buy "Serenity" at $15? Is there STILL a lack of information that "Serenity" is a continuation of the show? Is there a way to insert a leaflet of some kind into the T.V. show box sets informing the buyer of "Serenity"? Maybe a HUGE sticker on both titles as a cross promotion. It might just help the numbers a bit.

I did find this link on the Whedonverse site:

https://complicationsensue.blogspot.com/2006/07/second-guessing.html

It discusses this VERY issue "Why did "Serenity" fail?" The article and the 29 responses make for good, if not heated, reading.
