what is the difference between resin statues and polystone statues?

Resin is resin, Polystone is polystone. :)

j/k. Polystone is a heavier product that holds detail extremely well. Polystone is really just a resin with a stone-powder mixed in.

which is more durable though, the resin or polystone?

It pays to be the Great Worm's friend in many ways. The Elite of his circle knows what I'm talking about.

Shai's best pix or the X rated ones, the PG ones that make it on the board are too tame.

Learn to be concise. E.B.White's Elements of Style is one of the best.

One of my degrees is in English literature. I work in corporate education and I'm studying corporate communications. Every fibre of my being screams out against being concise!

Ah, a learned fellow. That explains your predilection for 1/6 over statues.

I do.

Quiggle you do realise how this looks to the rest of us don't you?

As a guy who has no trouble talking with the ladies, I gotta tell you that asking a bunch of guys on an action figure forum how you can get your porn fix is NOT COOL.

I don't want to feel a bigger nerd than I already am on account of my hobby. Having guys like you around, all brylcream, acne and highpants, makes me want to take up a different hobby, like pig-shooting or drag-racing.

hahaha... thread went south quick. post a pic of a girl and nobody remembers anything anymore.

but to go back to aussie's post, i think people prefer statue because it goes back to the root of art. i think, subconsciously, statues just remind people of the great art of the ancient times. they made them big, they made them heavy, and nobody play with their sculptures back then. so, with that tucked in inside our subconscious, our brain concludes:

big, heavy/polystone, static -> art ---> you are an art collector;
smaller, light/plastic, playable -> toy ---> you are less 'manly'. :lol

i collect both, but really... once a gorgeous piece is displayed inside a glass case, it doesnt matter what material it's made of; what matters becomes only what you can see. sculpt > material. hence i still believe neca 18" pred > ss/cm pred. i know i know... sorry i had to bring that up again, just seems like a perfect example to underscore my point. :monkey3

I always see some hot pictures on this forum but they always seem to be deleted a day later by a mysterious person. The funny thing is they weren't even that bad to begin with. :lol

yeah that's what I feel too. If you have a really good quality 12" figure (like most of the recent hot toys stuff or a good custom) then it looks every bit as 'museum' as the larger polystone PFs. The only difference is that PFs are bigger. (which to me is another plus on the 1/6 side of things, as I could probably only find space for maybe one PF in my house, where I can find display spaces for several 1/6s.

Plus... I think because it has the word 'stone' in it (clever marketing) people subconciously feel that it's a 'real' statue. Even though Polystone is still just plastic/resin at the end of it all.

now this....

And that's actually my question though. To my eye, the plastic that is being used by the top producers these days in 1/6 to mould the heads and hands looks more realistic than polystone. So why do people still insist that polystone is better?
