Re: Watch_Dogs -- (Amazing new IP from Ubisoft)

Very true ChaserF. The main campaign goes for a serious tone but then you can go WTF beast mode on a mechanical spider :panic: ...and I really hate spiders...

It seems as if Ubisoft wanted to cover all the possible expectations from previous open world games by adding their own variation of those gaming styles into Watchdogs. It's not a bad idea BUT when you do this you run the risk of loosing any originality/uniqueness of the game you're trying to make. I'm sort of in the middle on this concept for Watchdogs because I really enjoy the Watchdogs world but I do feel like it's trying to be everything at once instead of standing on it's own legs (in some ways of course). The hacking/mechanics are revolutionary in my eyes cause they add a twist on how to approach what could be viewed as similar game play situations like go to x and take down y.

Re: Watch_Dogs -- (Amazing new IP from Ubisoft)

It's a great game for sure...but the best way to know if this game is for you without playing one minute of it is do you like open world mission based games like GTA (and I'm talking about the general concepts and . If the answer is a 100% yes then you won't be let down at all cause I'm pretty sure you could play this game for months without having to repeat any of the content. There are other types of games that can also be included for the sake of relevance however GTA is simply a game most gamers know about and have played at one time or another.

I do love open world games like GTA, Red Dead Redemption, Sleeping Dogs, and so forth. This game looks fantastic and has a fairly large world to play in with tons of different stuff to do. It will be a definite buy for me I'll probably get it before the weekend. Just that the main character Aiden Pearce doesn't seem very "cool" for lack of a better description. How smooth does this game play? From what I seen so far it looks like it plays pretty responsive. Heard the driving wasn't the greatest, but the shooting was pretty spot on.

Re: Watch_Dogs -- (Amazing new IP from Ubisoft)

The shooting mechanics are pretty good. The driving is okay...it takes a bit to get used to, but ultimately it's not terrible. The standout feature is how well the hacking works, particularly while driving; love raising bridges for the hell of it :lol

If I remember correctly, and I may not, didn't Ubisoft kinda say this game's world wasn't large? I remember thinking to curb my expecations but its pretty decent in reality!

So the hacking system is easy to use then? That's good to hear, looking forward to trying that feature out and seeing what it's capable of within the game's environment. I wish I would of had time to run out and buy this yesterday, hopefully today!

Yeah, the map is much larger than I thought it was going to be. Obviously not as large as GTA V, but with all the hackable objects pre-loaded in the world, it's pretty impressive.

I'd say so. I was expecting it to be hard to use while doing other things, but it becomes sort of second nature, especially when driving.

Re: Watch_Dogs -- (Amazing new IP from Ubisoft)

It really amazes me when games like infamous second son gets higher reviews from certain websites over this game. Its fantastic and the most fun I have had on my ps4 yet. Driving is a bit iffy but I'm loving everything else. Side missions are really addicive IMO and got lots of variety. Also looks brilliant and runs very smooth.

Re: Watch_Dogs -- (Amazing new IP from Ubisoft)

Just started playing this on PC, and it's nigh unplayable, super choppy gameplay, and it just stutters really bad. My rig is somewhat dated, but it can run everything smoothly, The game auto detected my settings to low, though :(

AC4 ran pretty well, so I'm not sure why WD is so bad.

Then I see this article . . .

Re: Watch_Dogs -- (Amazing new IP from Ubisoft)

I really like this game, no issues at all on my laptop. Auto detects at high but I can have it at ultra if I did not mind a little lower fps. Have not seen any stutters or choppiness.

I7 4800MQ
Nvidia gtx 780m x2
16 gb ram

What hardware are you using?

Now that we have the next-gen consoles the games that get on PC will have higher requirements.

The game for sure isn't as big as some of the other open world games that have been already made. The way I've come to see it is you have about 4 or 5 relatively nice sized areas that are linked by bridges or highways (kind of the standard MO for prior open world games). While I play I never get the feeling that the world is too small or there isn't enough to do...having said that if you were to test the size by identifying how long it takes you to get from one side of the map to the other only then do I feel like the world could have been bigger. I think that says something very good about Ubisoft that they were able to make the game feel much bigger space wise than it actually is.

There are SO many variables when playing a game on a PC that will determine ultimately what your gameplay experience will be like. Obviously if you're running a titan or dual titan you likely won't have any issues but most of us don't have one of those. I'm running a GTX 780 and the game runs good from a gameplay standpoint...however there are some bugs that have already been identified and are being worked on by Ubisoft already.

One thing I VERY much dislike about playing any Ubisoft game on the PC is that you have to go through UPLAY no matter what and UPLAY has given lots of people tons of problems (including me). For instance the day after release UPLAY was offline for about 3 hrs meaning you couldn't log into your account so even if you had this game or splinter cell or any other Ubisoft purchased and installed on your computer through STEAM (which I LOVE like most PC gamers) you couldn't play it. Couldn't even play the campaign. That said those are things you kind of have to expect and accept from playing a Ubisoft game on the PC currently.

I have a GTX 560 Ti. I understand it's old, but I just finished the new Wolfenstein without any major problems, a bit of slowdown, but the slowdown in Watch Dogs makes it unplayable. Black Flag ran very well, as well, and that was a Ubi game and that was less than a year ago.

Forgets to return library books?

HEADSHOT!

10/10

Re: Watch_Dogs -- (Amazing new IP from Ubisoft)

Also takes some time for nvidia to fully optimize their drivers for new games across all of their product lines.

The unfortunate truth about playing on the PC is that no two games are created equal. A good example is the Metro series that are known to destroy nvidia graphics cards and that one has been out for a while.

Re: Watch_Dogs -- (Amazing new IP from Ubisoft)

Overall, I think the game isn't bad. I like the hacking aspect. Never get bored of scanning people and reading the little bios. My favourite was when I shot a guy in the face, then scanned him and it said 'has a blind spot in one eye' :lol

The graphics are a bit of a let-down compared to other open-world games like GTA and Sleeping Dogs.

Maybe it's just me but I'm having a hard time actually liking Aiden. He is just so boring, especially compared to the more interesting characters like Jordi and Clara. I understand why he wants revenge but
it's hard for me to be sympathetic to a man who bluntly ignores his sister's request to stop the hunt for her daughter's killer, thus putting her and her remaining son in danger.

They're all completely different game engines, Watch Dogs is a newly developed system whereas the others are all last gen systems.

Re: Watch_Dogs -- (Amazing new IP from Ubisoft)

I still can't activate my key on the uplay servers, this is getting ridiculous.

Re: Watch_Dogs -- (Amazing new IP from Ubisoft)

Played this for an hour or so last night. The amount of content seems borderline overwhelming...I felt like there's also a pretty big learning curve when it comes to the gameplay mechanics. Didn't quite feel comfortable with the game yet by the time I turned it off. Still, it was fun, so I'm eager to dive back in and get more proficient at it.
