I'm not really into Hardcore that much, Post-Hardcore is a yessir though!

Any Bouncing Souls fans? HWM covered True Believers to close out the show I went to a few weeks back.

I was really into punk rock music when I was in middle/high school, but since then I haven't had much interest. My favorite band during that period was Bad Religion, who seemed to become less punk as time went on from a musical POV, but always had a punk mentality with the lyrics. I had several Bad Religion t-shirts, and would always get looks when I wore them :lol Like some of you, other bands I loved were Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, Ramones, Descendents. I am also a fan of the MC5 and Iggy and the Stooges, though you may or may not consider them punk. Of course the Clash is amazing, though they seem too important for me to label as "punk" somehow. Like they were just really great rock music, and one of the most important bands of that era. Another one of my old favorites was the Misfits. I was into Green Day in the mid-90s, though I never considered them really punk rock. I guess Rancid and Op Ivy are sorta punk, and I was into them as well.

Nowadays though, if I want something aggressive I'll usually go toward metal. Slayer did an album called "Undisputed Attitude" that was mostly punk covers, and is one of my favorite albums of theirs.

I was into them a little bit, but even for Punk rockers, I think they went past the limits of acceptable taste in their song about the death of that guy from the Grateful Dead (singing about how it was a beautiful day because he was dead). I doubt even Jello Biafra would go there :lol

Yes, to this
:lol :exactly:

Quite possibly my favorite punk album:

Great thread! As a child oof the 80's and 90's, I was really into punk. Off the top of my head are Dead Kennedy's (I think they are my all time favorite punk band), The Clash, Descendents, Minor Threat, Bad Religion, NOFX, Operation Ivy, Lagwagon, Misfits, Black Flag, Social Distortion, Propagnadhi, All, Fugazi and Bad Brains. Still listen to all of them too.

No Buzzcock love, Batty?

Oh absolutely! And The Jam and Elvis Costello and Patti Smith and Television and New York Dolls... there are so many.

This dumb thread is great! :lol

The Misfits were always my favorite, and they're the only punk I still listen to. I was mostly into metal as a kid, but I liked Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Exploited, and Crass. Most of what I listened to back then was local (it's all used up mill towns are good for).

Flosi is trying to get me into HWM, but I'm playing hard to get.
