The Last Starfighter Reboot

This movie had a huge impact on me as a kid. It looks like previous attempts to get a sequel off the ground have culminated on a potential reboot. One of the co-writers of Rouge One Gary Whitta just dropped these concept images via twitter. He's apparently working with the original screenplay writer Jonathan Betuel. Matt Allsopp an artist on Rouge One provided the art:

Not yet. Though I read a tiny interview where it was said this is definitely a sequel reboot. So there should be some returning characters at least.

I hope this gets made. I love the original and it is one that I think could be really good with an update. I always like the ship design and the death blossom was cool to watch. Plus the movie shows that Picard fringe is beautiful on women.

Until now I'd only ever heard they wanted to do something with the property. Not much else. I dont think it's ever gotten this far before.
