Thanks gents.

That base is just foam board I use as filler, then I screw them together and put screen over it in some places to make rock type structures to keep the sand from slowly leveling out. It's not exactly as I want it right now. I will do some more sanding of that foam board and add more to gradually bring it down. It's very soft and very light....cheap. I buy the left over cuts people don't use for a couple bucks.

Thanks Chaka! I've got it where I want it now. It's just time to add sand, then back to the construction of the building for the 3PO display.

Here's the latest: (filed down the board to an acceptable look. It's not movie accurate, but it's supposed to be more of a sculpture/art piece than a straight dio.

Screwed the board together so no lift occurs from moisture absorption.

Finished the exterior (walls), now just working on a roof (exterior), and then it's on to the door and inside walls/flooring. Then the detailing starts.

Thanks man...on the building...I just want to get the basics done so I can add lights and all the details that make it Star Wars, you know?

That looks great! I really like all the details and things on the vaporator.

Nice work on the sand as well. I was thinking of doing a sand base for my Dewback and Tusken Raiders. That glass barrier is a good idea. Well done. :)

Thank guys. i'm trying. I haven't done anything like this before. This is literally my first building. My only two dio's were the Moisture Vaporator and the Sand Trooper Dio w/Dewback.

Anyway. I tried working on the door entrance. I made all of these pieces, mapped them out, numbered them for installation then got my numbering screwed up and effed up the whole thing.

Anyway, here's the entrance...so far.

Again, super glue works like magic. Just a dab and this stuff is welded onto the door frame. I still need to cut the top of the building to drop the door frame in there perfectly.

You certainly leave no stone unturned. What is that foam looking door padding? i can imagine anyone doing a spaceship or sci-fi dio would like to know. very impressive.
This is great - each picture is a cliff-hanger until the next one comes. I just hope you don't go on vacation then I would have to wait longer in between your posts.

Hey Cc3680!! What's your latest project?

That door entrance is made from Sculpey clay. I wanted it to be more exact, but I wasn't patient, nor did I know the proper technique to match the scene. But it's good enough and passes first glance.

I really wish I didn't get the assembly wrong. I had them numbered so they all fit well and were the same thickness, size and shape....but I got the numbering wrong somehow. I was devastated because as soon as that sculpey makes contact to that wood with super glue..it's on forever, in a second.

Damn marmits, why'd they have to go and be so perfect when I've got 2 SSC ones already!

That door frame looks good to me, well done.

You inspired me to do a cantina dio for my guys. I went out and bought some foam, spray paint and wood today. Thanks mate! :hi5:

Sweet! Can't wait to see that Tatooine/ Mos Eisley goodness! Glad I could repay the favor. You guys did this to me. ;)

The door frame is progressing..it's now set up for a sliding door..just need to assemble and create door. It's all planned out in my head...just need to execute.

Here's the latest.

Gonna try and look for some soon, problem before was they wouldn't mingle with ssc ones that well so I'd be nixing my current 2, might just go for it though haha.

also about the museum quality comments, you're already ahead of the ancient egyptians who could only muster this clunky dio :lol

:edit and why do I feel that in 3000 years, people's tamashii C3POs will be on display, theorised to be some ancient diety :lol

Hahaha....got those guys beat. But i am stuck on the door design.

I can't cut anything precise enough to look good. All of my cutting equipment is too small and clumsy, or the media I am working with is too difficult. Yanakanji!!!!

What are you trying to cut on or for the door?
