He'd look even better with some texture, including recesses for the panel lines. From your photo you can also see the screen printing isn't quite registered (aligned) and the orange bleeds out beyond the black outline on the top left and falls short on the bottom right.

Let us know if he can patrol a small area, like a shelf, autonomously.

Sheesh. I went online to order this because I have more money than common sense, apparently. Went to BestBuy.com and saw that it was in stock at 5-6 stores around me. Tried to order it from Manchester, NH and it was sold out before I could check out. Went back to see where else around me had it and only one store in my area had any left. Managed to snag one. Crazy how fast this is selling out. Must be very limited stock.

I'll start with a high shelf and see how it goes. I did the patrol for a couple seconds at work and he rolled into a filing cabinet.

There's a seam down the center of the ball part that's not too pretty, and there are pretty much no details, just paint. It looks nice, though, and I think I'll have fun with it if doesn't just make my cat start hissing.

There are a couple automated head motions. He can shake his head "no", nod his head "yes" and do a 360 scan of the joint. Pretty fun, I wonder if they'll update the app at some point with some more motions.

I think if you destroy one playing with it you'll just want the second one to play with too. If I get Rey as a figure I'll get a high end BB-8 to go with her. If not, then this will do.
