"..... a former Navy SEAL and Texas cop who moves to Los Angeles after the death of his wife and baby and winds up teamed with an LAPD detective who must avoid stress at any cost because of a heart condition."
Must avoid stress at ANY COST... but works as a cop? In LA?
---------
Murtaugh: "I'll do absolutely anything to avoid stress, me. Anything at all. Go on. Try and stress me out and see what I do. Nothing means more to me than remaining mellow".
[Riggs opens the curtains to reveal to Rog that he lives in LA. Extreme close up of Rog's eyeball bulging like Bill Bixby's used to when he was starting to get stressed out in The Incredible Hulk]
Riggs: "C'mon. We're going to be late for work. Grab your gun.....
[The Bill Bixby bulging eye shot again]
Riggs: .....and don't forget to kiss your kid's goodbye, just in case you get killed in the line of duty and the next time they see you you're lying in a casket. In which case, they won't want to kiss you, not even on the cheek, because your body will be freezing cold to the touch and giving off a really funny, stuffy smell...kind of similar to when a pensioner in incontinence pants tries to cover up the smell of pish by slathering on lashes and lashes of talc and a bit of Brut.
[Double Bill Bixby bulging eyeball shot as Murtaugh collapses to the floor clutching his chest]
--------
And why do they feel the need to double up Riggs misery by adding a dead child into the equation? Losing one loved one isn't enough to screw you up these days? Like, if they kept the original back story, modern audiences wouldn't buy it as being severe enough to push a man to the brink and would all be sat round going "Just man up you p###y. It was only your f######g wife".
