Re: Hot Toys - MMS??? - Spider-Man: Homecoming - Iron Man Mark XLVII? Speculation Thr

Do you know why the 43 is exactly the same as the 42 only red? It is because Joss wanted a red armor and not a gold one. It is not because there is some elaborate backstory happening with Tony Stark, it is because the people making the movie had an anesthetic choice, and the copy that they put in the art books makes up a paragraph of backstory to fit it.

Why is there 36 armors in Iron Man 3 but seemingly many of them are just repaints and parts of others? Because Digital Domain and Weta had the resources to model 12 hero suits, and the rest had to be made of those assets. And then write a backstory about prototypes and variants and etc etc.

We'll know once the movie comes out, but it looks like this is happening- Homecoming crew: Iron Man is in this, we'd like to change up the suit a bit to give this movie its own distinct visual of Iron Man, but he's probably in it for once scene so spending months to top to bottom design a new armor is not plausible. Art team: here are some new colorways based on the 46 chassis (they do this for every movie, all the art books are full of many colors of Iron Man, one or more designs was clearly inspired by Ultimate Iron Man). Director: I like that one. -end scene-

There will be some discussion in the art book and press tour, but it will boil down to "we wanted it to be different and that's what we picked." An intern will write up a few lines to go with the action figures and art books about why the suit looks like this (did you know the 46 has mini arcs because it was envisioned as a stealth suit and those were there to illuminate the environment and project an image of what is behind it? Of course it never came up but that was how the concept art people justified a bleeding edge inspired suit. In the film the justification was literally nothing. It just looks cool and comic book fans will squeal and clap their hands).

Its not "half painted" and oh, Tony has to tear it out of the fabrication machine and run off to battle. It is designed and painted to have a grey/silver midsection. Its a nod to Ultimate. Its a way to give a short Iron Man presence a unique look without breaking the bank and making an all new armor. There will be some justification for it that will probably not be mentioned anywhere but in the caption of some concept art, but it will boil down to a visual preference that the people making the movie had. And it will have a Mark number. The idea that this just isn't "special" enough to be "honored" with a Mark number is ridiculous. THERE ARE 46 SUITS ALREADY, in just six movies. And half of them are just repaints, including 2 of the beloved "original 7", and several never appeared on screen at all. It is not an exclusive club that a suit with 10 seconds of airtime and a repainted chassis isn't worthy of, considering that describes most of the members of that club already.

Yeah, I think that about sums it up...and considering I've got pretty much all of the armors that have been released so far outside the new-redo diecasts and one or two from the HPP, I'll be getting this as well...the completionist in me says so. :lol

Re: Hot Toys - MMS??? - Spider-Man: Homecoming - Iron Man Mark XLVII? Speculation Thr

There has been no mark indication for any of the toys yet. I know that doesn't really mean much at this point, but it also could mean that in order to keep Iron Man away from primary focus, they may just not give it a mark indication (which would be a first) and refer to him as just Iron Man or it may actually just be mark 46 colored differently. But of course if they don't say what it is, people will just assume its 47 until we see what he's wearing in Infinity War... Every theory has holes at this point, so who knows. But i'm with you in that I don't want Iron Man to be in any battles with Spidey, at least not any major ones.

Well it wouldn't EXACTLY be a first, as the hulkbuster never got any official numbering as 44, but the 45 skipping one made it's designation obvious. I definitely think it's a huge possibility that this will be marketed as "Spiderman homecoming: Iron Man" with no number designation, but I also think we'll definitely see numbers come back in infinity war if that's the case, with a mark 48 confirming this was 47.

(Although technically, not every one of Tony's suits could possibly have been numbered, because in Iron Man 3, when the clean up team accidentally comes across the wine cellar of armours, there are a hell of a lot more than 40 glowing arc reactors in that pit)

Can you explain this? I dont think they need to say its 44 to be official. I dont remember Stark saying "Im going to wear 35 today".
If anything, they were all given nicknames like "Veronica" or "the Prodigal Son".

Besides, isn't that the point? By your logic, "They never officially numbered 6 but the 7 came out so it made its designation obvious."

I'm not talking about actual dialogue spoken in the films. At the time of AOU's release, there was no official promotional material or merchandise (to my knowledge) that labeled the hulkbuster as "Mark 44." Every other suit, however, had been clearly marked with a number by official promos, figures, books, etc. before their respective movie released.

That's news to me. Okay, thanks!

I also love the mark 45 lol.....

Yeah. I should've been more clear because there actually is official stuff calling it MK44 now, but as I recall, we had to assume the hulkbuster was 44 when the movie came out when the next one was called 45.

And yeah Mark 45 is awesome (Obvious that I'd like it based on my name). I hope the infinity war one is just as cool as it was.

That's true! Seriously hope we get Veronica with the Hulkbuster they are releasing. Even King Arts did it.

Confirmed. From the footage from the new trailer it's AFTER Civil War which debunks the notion that it's an unpainted version of that armor. This is the next armor incarnation apparently.

Great trailer although it kinda gives away a lil too much! Also the way the new IM suit operates looks like we're getting the Iron Man 3's vibe back. What's also interesting is Vulture getting hold of Mark 46's helmet.

I liked very much that they had Peter mention having met Cap because I mentally went "We can finally end this 'It's a prequel' debate."

Re: Hot Toys - MMS??? - Spider-Man: Homecoming - Iron Man Mark XLVII? Speculation Thr

Awesome. I like the suit. And because its a repaint, we shouldn't have to wait a year to get it.

I suddenly hear the silence of so many who were certain this wasn't in the movie. :wave

Nah, no silence. I thought it was an unpainted 46.

Good to know the speculation can finally be over.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS??? - Spider-Man: Homecoming - Iron Man Mark XLVII? Speculation Thr

They just add Ultimate armor as a repainted versin of mk46 in an external (non IM or Avengers) movie. That's all.

But on the other hand it makes me think that we'll most probably see uru and endo-sym armors in the upcoming movies.

No, Veronica is a nickname for the hulk buster, its a joke that plays on betty and veronica, because bruce is in love with Betty Ross. The hulk buster is just stored in the satelite

Re: Hot Toys - MMS??? - Spider-Man: Homecoming - Iron Man Mark XLVII? Speculation Thr

This colorway for the armor has grown on me quite a bit. But I still doubt I'd get a figure of it.

Now the wait for the 'Mark' designation... So far it seems like they may just refer to him as Iron Man and not label it. But who knows.

It could be an unpainted REPAIR job of the old armor ;)
(not that Tony has ever fixed an armor before as he tends to just throw them out and make new ones.)
