Ordered mine from a dealer in Hong Kong (Goodshipped)
Anyone dealt with them before? Wondered how quick they are at shipping usually - can't wait to get this one, re-watched the film now want my fig!

Goodshipped is all good, don't worry.

Unlike gary oldman 'gordon' that's infamous for not letting his likeness to be mass produced, depp's likeness has never been an issue (HT sparrow, medi todd, sparrow, scissorshands, mcfarlane scissorhands and so on)

So I'm assuming it has something to do with paying the right amount of royalty, or they've gotten so popular over the last year that they think we'll just swallow up whatever garbage they throw our way, as long as they slap on the HT label.

This, and mainly their so called MMS DX joker has gotten many fans, including me, disapointed with their way of business.

None of the other figures you mention look like Depp except Sparrow. It could have something to do with the movie rights and not Depp at all. Disney has the rights to the Sparrow image, that's why it was on just about everything you can imagine.

Now hold on there missy. He did mention the McFarlane scissorhands, which looks great. The sculpt is Depp, and has the forlorn stunned mullett look.

The detail on this is way better than the Hot Toys, solely because every nuance can be captured and replicated. The look of the Hot Toys is another matter. As an example look at the boots. Both are plastic, yet the McFarlane has definition between all the belts and buckles and the Hot Toys has them but they're more blended into the whole boot.

Anyway, here's a couple of quick snaps. Had to use the flash it's dark here and these guys are very black. Did a little brightening and gamma.

The very nature of the materials used on the Hot Toys does not allow for this detail. That's not to say the McFarlane is better at all. It's bigger, so it's easier to distinguish these details. The Hot Toys is wearing the costume. It's definitely more real. There is more work in it. Parts pieced together with an outstanding result.

It seems to me unless you have both the figures in front of you, like I said earlier, you're likely to not understand where I'm coming from. Those who get the Hot Toys figure, and are non the wiser, will undoubtedly be thrilled with it.

I bought this not expecting him to look like Depp but I was hoping he would have at least that innocent look of the character...

:lol Funny and true. :lecture

Cancel the Han. Most SW stuff looses it's value. Really it depends on your display, then again I don't keep tabs on SW stuff. Will Han be relatively easy to get down the track?

I think if you didn't know Depp played Edward, you wouldn't recognize him in the McFarlane as you do in HT Sparrow. The point I'm making is, I don't think any of them actually got the rights to Depp's image, for one reason or another.

It is a nice figure for what it is. To each his own I suppose. They could all use a repaint and a haircut! :lol

:lol

Didn't mean to use you just as a segway to finally post some pics. Sorry 'bout that, and I'm not being facetious. This time. :lol

No one else got theirs yet?

I'm saving mine for review, gotta few to work through, 24 Jack is in the bag, as is the IRONMAN MK 2. Now I'm starting Ed and Mr Bean, then HellBoy and MJ are waiting.... but rest assured I am working on Ed now, however, then he'll have to wait for a slot!

Good stuff wookster. It'll be nice to see some great pics from someone that knows how to use a camera. Thought there'd be some more arrivals by now.

Don't do yourself an injustice, those are some solid pics you've done there. And I'm from the happy-snappy camera club... but I work within the limitations of my hard-ware.
One day I'll have a quality SLR and some good lenses, but for now I'm happy with what I've got (not that happy obviously!) so if any reps from Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Fuji, Sony... hell I don't care, but if you're reading and want a plug, send me a digital SLR!

Well, I'll just derail for this one reply, but I used to use an old Olympus OM-1 back in the days film and prints so I'm used to a fully manual camera.
But the one I use now is a Fuji F610. I got in on eBay brand new for about £40 (can't actually remember now) so it's a pretty good camera, and the macro facility is sound as a pound.

Just got back late from work and Eddies here!!!

Just took a couple of quick snaps (lighting is c**p here) Post some decent ones when I get 5 mins in decent daylight.

Got to say I'm loving this figure. Sure, it ain't Dep. Got over it, moved along.

Detail on the outfit is excellent, some of the parts on the gloves are tiny metal rods!

Articulation suffers because of the tight suit, but hey, it was like that in the film, poor guy could only shuffle about!

All in all very pleased - Box was a bit beat up on it's journey from Hong Kong but not too bad, pity though it's a nice box...

anyway, here he is...
