Re: Fire Toys Catwoman

Tyler1234, I take it that's your Catwoman figure in the pic.

No, Those are not my pics. I sold my HT Catwoman ages ago although the flaking was very similar.

They were just from a google search and they happen to be from this very Sideshow forum's 1/6 Hot Toys Catwoman Selina Anne Hathaway thread.

Just do a search on any 1/6 forums and there will be similar pics.

It's actually my figure, purchased just over a year ago from Tim Cent, brand new and sealed in the shipper.

There were about five or six points of flaking when I opened the box and took off the plastic sleeves. A few hours later, without even touching the figure more pieces fell off.

I left it overnight on the stand and in the morning even more of the costume had flaked away, literally without even touching the figure. If I'd posed it and handled it I think the gloves and boots would have shed all their coating. The suit was not as bad but was still decaying in places.

I packed it up and returned it for a full refund. It's the only figure I've ever returned and it broke my heart.

The paint on the right leg of my Iron Man mark 45 has also started to go a bit matt and chip - also bought sealed about a year ago. My advice to anyone with boxed figures is to sell or display because they will not last.:(

I'd forgotten about this one.

Got the final invoice earlier. KG Hobby say they've arrived in stock.

People on OSR are clamouring for some actual out of the box photos. Ian Smith says he'll try, but he's very busy at the moment.

Looks like we'll have to manage with the current photos of Selena engaging in auto-erotic asphyxiation. :lol

I paid the KG Hobby invoice a couple of days ago, but so far there's no tracking so I don't know whether they've actually received their stock yet.

Ian smith is known in the hobby?
It seems to me he is only posting pics of unboxing, it seems to me he doesnt really have the figure but only forward the pics released by the manufacturer/distributor

Here she is next to HT

John Desmeules Def not worth it for me. Bought her because she was at a cheap price and needed to place her behind a fence for my diorama but that figure has such a cheap body and the costume isn?t top notch either but hey it?s not hot toys, I know. Hs isn?t too bad and the mask is better than expected but takes so much time to place well.

The costume looks as though it lends itself to posing, as in rolling her shoulders back.

I don't know why he has both the Fire and HT goggles flying so high.

Saying that, did the HT goggles ever manage to get into this position with the insides of the lenses facing outwards?

Catwoman.jpg

Their prototype photos only showed the lenses facing upwards:

Why doesn't he know the right way to pose the lenses?

Skin tones don't look at good as HT paint aps(based on that one pic). Costume looks looser and tailoring not as good. Wish we can see more pics of HS

My Fire A025 Selina Kyle finally arrived. Service from giantoy.com to South Africa was top-notch - zero complaints. In-hand the figure looks and feels like it costs one-third of a Hot Toys figure - which it does. Her hair arrived in a mess, and her head arrived detached. It's going to take some work to make her look presentable. She ain't perfect, but she's mine and I love her!

The sculpt is well painted.

The suit and boot material feels kind of nice and hugs the body well.

The goggles turn in a way that HT never showed in their own promotional photos, so that the lenses face in this direction:

They look like they ought to slide but at the moment they don't want to move.

The pistol has a moving (and removable) slide and what appears to be a removable magazine as you can see a brass painted round in the top of it with the slide is pulled forwards. Though the magazine doesn't want to budge yet. It's based on the same type of gun that Hot Toys gave their Selina, but it wasn't a type that was used in the film. The 1/6 gun looks like an early model SIG-Sauer P250 Compact, but not particularly well realised. Better to give her a Beretta 92FS

This turned out to be a very good looking figure, especially at only $109 delivered.

She just needs a bit of care

The Pros:

Head sculpt and paintwork, mask/goggles sculpt and function, suit and boots all look great.

The Cons:

The strap on the mask is too short to fasten because her hair is so thick. I put a sandwich bag wire through each side and used it to draw the two ends together.

She's too short for Anne Hathaway. Without her boots she'd only be 5' 3" (rather than Anne's 5' 7"). However, I bought her to have a Catwoman in the collection, so she fills that role.

Seems common nowadays for female characters to be too short.

The neck joint is a little strange. The peg is pretty long so the ball joint is a way down into the body. The head tends to want to tilt forwards, so that she's looking slightly down rather than directly straight. To straighten her head you have to hold the neck tight and pull her head back so that ball joint inside the head cup turns. I only discovered this after taking all but one of the photos.
