DC RELAUNCHING entire Universe in September

Crossovers are nothing new to the New 52. They've been done, a lot, way before it. The books tie in to DOTF, but they aren't essential. It just seems like they are.

It's all about the moneh!!!

At least they stay "family " contained. i.e. only batman, or only GL

marvel just sticks everything together. and runs one into another. Fear Itself, X v. A

and they advertise one, before they are even done with the other

Just read batman inc #5 and I'm really loving this series. I was never interested in the series pre new 52 but thought I'd give it a go when it returned and have been really enjoying it. If anyone's not read it yet I'd definitely recommend it.
