Super Freak
Hi all
Bit late to the party on this one, but picked up a Thor recently and while I dig the figure, he seemed a bit "weedy"
Inspired by some super creative people on here,I decided to have a stab at beefing up that "Puny God!"
Thought I'd record my efforts as quite a few people seem to want to mod this figure, if it's all old news and a mod want to delete or move the thread, go ahead, if not, enjoy!
No. 1 picked up a selection of "muscle bodies" from the bay, and raided my "bits box" for useful spares....
Left to right... Broken old HT body , Indiana Jones Body, ACI Spartacus body, Hot Toys Rambo Body, Thor, Gay Muscle legs, Regular True type, Slim True Type.
N0. 2 Decided on the ACI body, was going to use the Rambo, but colour was way off, and restrictive articulation put me off.
Easy part, strip him down!
No. 3 First fit - Think he looks better already! far more God like.... now about that pesky body armour.....
No.4 First bit of "Heart in the mouth" work. Armour is glued in place, deep breath aaaaaaaaand.....
OK, feel sick. need a beer!
No. 5 As you can see, armour doesn't close well around the bigger body. Now, I'm actually going to use this body for my Wolverine kitbash when the head, hands & clothes set arrives. I'm buying another one of these ACI bodies (the Andrew I think?) as it doesn't have the Abdominal articulation, which is wasted on this figure, but will be cool on Wolvie!
When I get the new body I think I'll dremel down the muscles (these ACI's are all hard plastic, no rubber coating, to get it to fit better and then glue the armour back in place...
No.6 Even with the armour "gaping" behind the cape, I'm really pleased with the result.
No. 7 Size comparison with Capt Am.
Notes:
1) I used the extra long ankle pegs that came with Captain America, partly because I felt he need the extra height, but also because the calves are wider than the standard body and the shin armour wouldn't go all the way on. Made it hard to attach the feet, the extra long pegs fitted great.
2) Likewise, I had to use the longer neck peg that came with the ACI body. The head kept falling off with the Hot Toys one. If you buy a loose ACI body for this swap - make sure you get the neck peg!!
3) Hot Toys hands fit straight onto the ACI wrist pegs.
4) Hot Toys feet fit the body too.
5) I'm very happy!!!
