I can't believe this forum is taking away collector ability to communicate directly with one of the larger toy designers about upcoming/existing products. So greedy but it will backfire I'm sure.
That's been resolved. Asmus is a sponsor now, per the admins. They can communicate with us again, they've just been quiet since it's been worked out. Hopefully they start coming around again soon.

Pretty sure Admin have stated that Asmus is now a sponsor so that can't be why they have been a bit awol lately.

Yes, it has been resolved. Asmus has been a sponsor for almost a month. Nothing at all preventing them from answering questions.

So Mr. @Asmus , can you now explain what happened with Boromir’s chainmail?🙃

I don’t wanna come off dickish about it, because I really do like this version otherwise, but man, the ‘faux’ chainmail print is really not good lol.😟🫤

But when it came to Boromir that rooted hair just looked awful to me. Again no disrespect to anyone who enjoys it but I can't get on board with figures that look like that.
I can’t wait for Asmus to finally reveal their rooted-hair Haldir.
I mean, if ever a figure cried out for “Barbie hair, it would be that one!

Question for 1.0 Boromir owners: how is your pleather straps holding up? I mean those the dagger hangs off.
And what about the blue plastic robe? Is it also decaying, or likely to decay as pleather does?
Thx

My belt for one of my 1.0 Boromirs is deteriorating. The other one seems fine though. It’s where it is looped. At first I preferred the non-plastic belts but now I am leaning towards preferring the plastic ones.

My pleather strap was broken the first day out of the box... I don't want plastic though. Can't they use some kind of fabric?

Some kind of fabric would be preferable to me over the plastic and pleather as long as it looks accurate and durable. I don’t know enough about the manufacturing process to know which makes the most sense production-wise.

I am a scuba diver and preserve my o rings and hoses with a Food Grade Silicone...
I also use it on the materials found on toys that would otherwise deteriorate because
silicone is long-lasting, and a great preservative for rubber, plastic, nylon, and vinyl.
It can darken the colour sometimes but it will keep it from rotting- a very thin film goes
a long way!

Thanks for the insight. I am both tempted and hesitant to try it out. I can live with a slightly darker color if it means it will last versus running the risk of it deteriorating in a couple of years. Any known risks in using it other than the darkening?

I think the worst you could expect is that it could attract dust, but you can rub it right off...
I've never had any other problems, and i've been using it for over 20 years on my toys.

So Asmus is still silent huh? My Boromir will arrive soon, and I will ditch that ugly fish scale suit and replace it with a molded chainmail. I have to buy the parts loose, because Asmus did not deliver their figure to look like the prototype. That molded chainmail looked like the real chainmail they used in the film. Even better than the chainmail fabric. Like I said before, other company have already made it and it means it’s possible so why Asmus just didn’t use it? I’ll post the pictures after I got the figure.

Where did you buy the molded chainmail parts?
