Is that the sea boiling?

I didn't see a post about this so you'll forgive me in advance.

John Carpenter's cult 1988 film They Live is getting the remake treatment from Universal and studio-based Strike Entertainment, which are in negotiations to acquire the film rights with rights holder Les Mougins. Strike's Marc Abraham and Eric Newman will produce, while Shep Gordon of Les Mougins and Carpenter will serve as executive producers. The original film, part sci-fi thriller and part social satire, told the story of a down-on-his-luck construction worker (Roddy Piper) who discovers glasses that let him see aliens walking among us and controlling humanity.

Noooooo.....

I just watched that on cable last week.....Rowdy cannot act worth a dang but much like Hell Comes to Frogtown his star power carries the flick..... :D

This is actually not a bad idea . . . it would be cool to see a serious take on the movie, just using the ideas behind the classic version . . .

You can't beat the campyness of the original though . . and the 20 minute wrestling match in the middle of a movie . . . lol . .

As with the other potential remakes I've read about today, I don't get it. It exists, it is good, great! Come up with a new ^^^^ing idea! But, whatever. If they do remake it, I hope that we will get another wrestler as the star, at least (my vote goes to Kurt Angle, who could really cheese it up in a good way).

What I hate about all of the remakes
is that they don't change the titles of
the movies. Call it "They Live Again" or
"They Live V.2" or something, but nooo.

Example: they remade Psycho and
called it Psycho, not "Psycho Reborn"
or something.
Every other subsequent movie has
followed this same theme, as well.
I mean, Friday the 13th is coming out...
not Friday the 13th Part FREAKIN' 11
or whatever! Let's just re-tell the same
story with a few new twists.
Plus, The Day the Earth Stood Still just
came out...what year is this?!

Anyone who has worked in a
videostore can tell you how
unintelligent people can be when
it comes to multiple movies with
the same titles. I also hate it when
you tell people something like, "My
favourite movie is The Shining."
Only to hear, "Which one?" @_@

I thought the original was funny as Hell! I wouldn't mind them making a more serious/horror flick of it. But if they tried to make it just the same I think I would be sorely dissapionted. :(

Love how South Park spoofed this in the episode "Cripple Fight".:lol

As for the new movie, if it turns out good, I'll watch it, if not, well, I won't (although I'll probably watch it one way or the other).

they should get chuck norris to star.........take like 5 minutes to wrap up the whole thing.

As for the fight scene...

The fight between Nada (Roddy Piper) and Frank (Keith David) was only supposed to last 20 seconds, but Piper and David decided to fight it out for real, only faking the hits to the face and groin. They rehearsed the fight for three weeks. Carpenter was so impressed he kept the 5 minute and 20 second scene intact.

All i can say, is that if they do want a more serious alien/horror movie...I sure hope the hero doesnt find a pair of alien viewing glasses! Head Trama or blind guy regaining site through some crazy implants or something...that would do.
