Re: 1-6th X-wing project

MDF i assume? Nice to see the hull finished.

I'm sure you already noticed there are several yellow temperature white lights recessed high in the (wheel) well and light Luke up from several directions as he does his pre-flight on Dagobah. They might call for something more intense than you have in the cockpit.

If you ever get tired of people asking about the wings you could build a service frame over the back similar to the one seen over the X in Echo Base.

Have you ever taken apart a habro 1:6 R2? Mine is pretty yellow and I'm looking to paint it/weather it. It seems like it would go better if I took it apart.

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaan you are killing it with this X-Wing...

I got a question though....how do you make all those cockpit panels...I mean the instrument boards??? They look soooooooo cool...

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

So THAT'S how you work so quickly. You have an army of astromech droids doing all the work!!!! You're not even a Timelord!!!

Ahem... Good pics. You have a very nicely modified droid collection. Glad to see the side legs just pull straight off. Do you disassemble any further? Do you bother removing the dome and center leg when painting? If so, how is that done? What do you use for the power cables around the 'feet'?

Yes, very interested to see how you pull them apart, and what's the best paints to use, etc. Maybe there's a thread on this somewhere in these pages? Wanting to try my hand at fixing the weathering job hasbro's cronies did to my R5.

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

Thanks for the thread.

That weathering turned out so nice. It really does have the look of an ILM miniature.

So what's left?

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

I have dulled down his helm but it needs weathering up properly I think.

As for whats left to do on the X-wing....

sorting the lights in the cockpit and the belly, panels on the underside, then spray it then I dont know really.
