The regular with the specialst head doesnt look as pinheaded as the specialist does, might be the pauldron and the pouch which make the helmet look smaller. Anyway, both are excellent figures.

I'm keeping my Specialist as is and my regular will be using the long rifle. Swapping heads and weapons may make the regular look like a pawn beside a decked out squad mate and I am trying to avoid that lol.

I was fortunate enough to get a regular version of the Death Trooper recently. I still have the Specialist (deluxe) coming a bit later. I was not initially impressed with this guy, but I like it a whole lot after spending some more time with it these past few days.

I've had this guy for a couple of months now but only recently realized that his display stand doesn't include the extra accent piece that slides under the nameplate. Hate that they excluded it from this release when the other RO figures have them. Does anyone know where I may be able to purchase that piece?

Can someone clarify what the helmet/viewfinder issue is exactly between the two versions please? I'm very confused.

I know what you mean. I mean how much it will cost HTs to include that piece of plastic. I don't know where you can find that one piece by itself, most like with a stand.

What issue?
If you are asking about accuracy in the film with which Trooper version has which helmet:
Early scene w/Young Jyn - DT Specialist (no view finder) long rifle and Regular DT (w/viewfinder) short rifle/blaster
Rest of movie - free for all mix up except for Krennic's 2 bodyguards Regular DT (w/viewfinder) blaster.

Bummer about the missing stand piece. That's the only version I didn't get. I don't know why they wouldn't include such a simple part.

That's fantastic thank you.

I didn't realise there had been three releases which someone clarified for me in the other DT thread hence I wasn't sure why people were saying the viewfinder was missing on one.

Your post is great though in helping me decide what version to go for. Think i will go with the standard viewfinder version as I want them to be more bodyguard style.

Yeah I have 2 Specialists and a Specialist Deluxe which I removed the extra gear to "unspecialize" him. Going for the farm house scene on L'ahmu at the beginning of the movie: Specialists with the long blaster rifle and Regulars with the short.
They're all great solid figures. Very minor issues with the elbow articulation - slightly hindered - but they get to where you want them with some care and patience. Good shelf presence... you'll dig it. One of my top 5 figures.

anyone selling one of these?

Got one. Not sure what to make of it yet; great figure but need to spend some time with it.

I was initially rolling my eyes when this was revealed, but now I think it’s one of the best (if not the best) new Star Wars designs since Disney took over.

It exudes menace, like a Ringwraith, while nailing the OT production design in a contemporary way.

I think Boba Fett was meant to be a kind of ‘super stormtrooper’ originally...and between the blunt muzzle of that weapon and the overall design, I feel this is taking that idea with contemporary tech, design and money — and running with it.

Nice shots. Even with the big ol' thumb print on the chest. :)

Seriously though, beautiful pictures, and I know this one is hard to capture in all its black menace.
