Bringing it back!

"Art is never finished, only abandoned"

Here's some updates. With all of these awesome throne rooms being build lately, I thought I'd give it a go as well. Here's where I'm at. I had to cut some corners to make it fit in my space. The platform in the rear is not as deep as it should be. I may pull out the whole counter a little bit from the wall and then push the entire thing back to give me some room in the front to place figures. We'll see.

Building a rancor as well. Its not the same scale but will look good in my "Jabba corner." The Rancor would actually look pretty good with the black series if anyone is looking for one.

Out of the box

Assembled, joints filled and base coat applied. Don't worry I'll darken him up.

OMG where did you get the rancor from!

Man, now you guys got me wanting to make some steps to go behind my Jabba throne.
That Rancor is freaking sweet.

That's an awesome start Nate! With the sweet builds you've done previously, there's not a doubt in my mind that this will turn out less than fantastic.

dmontane1 - Thats the ERTL model from the 90's. It was a lot of work to get it to where it is now but worth it I think.

Finished the arch framework tonight. The big bonus here is that all I've purchased so far are 2 packs of screws. The pine I had a few 8 foot lengths lying around. The fiberboard is from my old entertainment center. The stairs and rear platform are mostly pine with a few fiberboard supports under the stairs. As you can see the arch is almost all fiberboard. The arch will remain a separate piece so I can take it apart if I ever need to move things. Next up will be to finish covering it with 1/8 MDF and then filling in any gaps with silicone.

Crappy pic, but you get the idea. :)

Awesome ! is that rancor bigger than the Hasbro's Legacy Collection one? Do u have any comparison pictures just to see how big it is?

Thanks !!!

A little update. Steps and Arch are ready for plaster and decoration. I cut out the 2 spots in the arch for the lights and made the lights themselves today but they're not wired in yet. Now its on to the rear wall.

Awesome.

Small update:

Haven't posted much lately as I've been busy. Its slow going, but I've been working on this every day. I gotta finish this as its eating up every bit of room I have and its starting to get annoying. I've put every thing else on hold even the Rancor so I can get this finished ASAP!!!

Can't see any of it, but 90% of the wiring is complete. Including a lead for a BBQ light. ;)

I plan on using 1 or more of those LED tea lights for the BBQ

Even when this thing is built I still won't be "finished".

I started plastering
Stairs are finished. Just a bit of sanding and its ready for paint. You can see the arch in the background, its also almost ready for paint.

Close up of the ikea draw mat :) Thanks for that tip Dutch

The rear wall is still a WIP.

Hopefully I'll have another update this weekend.
